A REAL bakery and patisserie with a huge selection of artisan delights. To go and look is a treat and tastes to die for!! The rustic feel may not match our current take on coffee houses (American Italian Starbucks style I guess?) but the food...the food really is special. In house baked croissants of every amazing variety, plains, almond, chocolates. Brioche, pains of every shape and flavour and then the tarts!
Sandwichs also look great, (next day)
Staff are almost unfailingly sweet and seem mostly French front of house. It has that very hard to find thing of transporting you to another place,a little island of an idealised rural France.
If I was going to nitpick there might be a bit more explanation of the produce when you're looking spoilt for choice (maybe) You don't want to be mammied either.
I've been a few times(4) and initially didn't take to the coffee. If you ask they have a decent selection of beans (which probably could be advertised more)
The location at the top of High street makes it a bit out of the way but seek it out and I doubt you'll be sorry.
