“Historical accuracy over tourist trap”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

This was probably the best of the 3 castles I visited whilt on vacation in Ireland. Try to get there in time for the tour (before 4pm when I visited in may), it was pretty thorough and the tour guides had a good amount of knowledge about the interior workings of the castle.

“Great castle”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

Beautiful and easy to get to Castle. Located in the national forest on Lough Leane it is worth the trip. Point your camera in any direction for a good photo. We will be back for sure.

“Worth checking out, but not a special trip for it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

We saw the Ross Castle on our Gap of Dunloe tour, and I'm glad we did, but I wouldn't have made a special trip for it - nothing completely distinguishing or interesting. I'd rather spend the time at the Muckross House, but again, good to see, and great positioning right on the water.

“Very Informational”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

One of the few castles that we went to that has a phenomenal presentation. Although the castle is modest, the information and experience was great! I would recommend the Heritage card if you plan to visit many sights throughout Ireland.. Saved us a ton of money!
