“Perfect Irish Retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

Stayed at Friars Glen just for 1 night on 22nd October 2012,
I haven't visited Ireland for 8 years, our experience at Friars Glen reminded me how friendly and welcoming the irish people are.
From the warm welcome from Mary upon arrival, the excellent standard of rooms, both bedroom and lounge, the wonderful breakfast and fond farewell, the whole experience was fantastic.
The property is in an idyllic and quite setting, deer wander in the surrounding woods, yet Killarney is only minutes away.
We will return, and stay longer!!!

this is the fourth time i have stayed at Friars Glen Country House with Mary and John and the irrepressible Bridget. This time we took 4 of our friends. we had been travelling around the north and south of Ireland and had, but this time stayed in several B&B's. as a group we rated each place we stayed and without doubt and without exception, this is the best of the best. It is spotlessly clean, the food is amazing, the welcome all encompassing and their local knowledge without equal. On our arrival, cold and tired, we were greeted with tea and fruit cake and a warm open fire. it is so close to town that it is only a few minutes drive and sits right on the ring of Kerry opposite Mukross House.. If you are looking for a spotlessly clean establishment, with plenty of hot water and great food, dont go past this one.

My husband and I stayed at Frairs Glen for a night in early October and cannot say enough great things about it. The house is absolutely beautiful and Mary, John, and Bridget were incredible hosts. They made us feel at home right away and gave us excellent advice about what to see and do in the area. The breakfast was incredible too! I would recommend Friars Glen to anyone!

The tree lined drive to this B&B just whets the appetite. We enjoyed a wonderfully warm welcome from Brigid - very detailed explanations regarding the attractions of the area, along with a map. A welcoming pot of tea and cake was a treat too. Our room (Room 3 Elm) was so lovely, overlooking the back garden such a tranquil view. The room is extremely spacious and very light - the ensuite is excellent - very well equipped and so comfortable. Downstairs there's a great lounge room with fire for relaxing. Breakfast was very good - the breakfast room has a lovely outlook over the garden. We enjoyed talking with Mary - such a friendly host. We really wished we had had more time here - a great spot for day trips around the Ring of Kerry but more importantly a wonderful spot to just totally unwind and relax. Every B&B needs a Brigid!!!

The location is perfect. Allthough the area has so much tot do and see, the location of the b&b is noiseless and offroad. In the morning at breakfast wild deer can be seen from the diningroomwindow. The rooms are spacious and attribute to the warm and quite atmosphere around the house.
