“Killarney”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2009

I stayed in Killarney for a few days, the best little town in Ireland!
The people are wonderful , the food plus entertainment abounds and it is all really good.
I stayed at the International Hotel (Best Western) which was simply outstanding. The rooms were superior, quiet, clean , the staff was friendly and very helpful.
The Breakfast excellent and the food in the hotel overall good.
ALso the entertainment in the bar downstairs was lots of fun.
Overall, Killarney is a quaint town with lots of shopping, day tours, and tons of Great food and good Irish Music.

NO PARKING !!! But we did manage to get paid parking around the corner.
We took a family room, which was massive and spacious. We were not happy with the pullout sofa, so they brought a single bed to our room, which was nice of them.
Unfortunately our room faced onto the alleyway, and we heard a lot of drunks roaming around screaming late at night, and some bottles being smashed too! In fairness it was the night of the races, so that may have been why.
The hotel is so central for the town, it was great.

We have stayed in the International on numerous occasions & were so impressed every time we stayed. The rooms are lovely & cosy especially the suites. The breakfast was delicious as were the lunches&dinners we had there. The best thing about the hotel is that its so central&the staff are very friendly.Although they have no parking, we never had a problem finding a space nearby. We'll definitely stay again!

We were booked into this hotel as part of a 2 day tour through Rail Tours Ireland...we received an upgrade to an executive suite, which was fabulous - the jetted tub was perfect for relaxing after a long day of touring!

The hotel's staff that we had dealings with all seemed to be very happy to be working there - and we were treated very well in the dining room, the pub, and at reception. Actually, the staff in the dining room were exceptional.

We were centrally located and could walk to many things which was nice as we only had the one evening in Killarney. We did notice it could be loud because of the pubs around - but once we closed our room window, that problem was solved.

The hotel itself was beautiful - and I would very much reccomend this hotel to anyone looking for a 3 star priced hotel that gives 5 star treatment to its patrons.

There are NO parking facilities for this hotel, so be prepared to constantly put money in the parking machine at the parking lot which is about 3 blocks away. Oh and there is also no designated spot to pull in at the front of the hotel, so we also had to cart all our belongings from the parking lot......ugh!

We were making a 3-wk. trip in Europe, mostly using hotel points, and had enough points for 2 nights in the BW International - and paid for one night. I paid a bit more for a better room the first night, hoping they wouldn't make us move for the two award nights, and my ploy worked. The room was extremely large, clean, and nice enough, if a bit shop-worn around the edges in the typical European mid-range hotel fashion. We weren't anticipating a luxury hotel and the BW International was pretty much as we expected. Much better than rooms for the same price or more in Amsterdam and Bruges in previous years. The manager, who gave us his parking place in front of the hotel for the night and showed us the room, couldn't have been more pleasant or helpful. Other employees were friendly and nice also.

Finding the hotel was a little tricky - both the map and the GPS indicated it should be "right over there" but all the streets seemed to be going one way the other way; once we had made it there the first time at least my husband was able to figure out how to get back, though I remained confused. (No problem walking, just driving.) The hotel was somewhat rambling and not too handicapped-friendly, but we were able to find our room again with minimal wrong turns after dinner. We ate in the hotel restaurant the first night and had a very good meal - the best dinner of the three we ate in Killarney. The included breakfast was more than adequate. When we checked out, they said they were only charging us for the rate of the non-premium room we were supposed to have gotten for the two award nights.

I was a bit put off by some guide books describing Killarney as "touristy" but found it quite pleasant and convenient for Killarney National Park and the Dingle peninsula. If I were going back to the area, I'd be happy to stay at the BW International.

Our third stay at the International and now our home away from home in Killarney. We love being able to walk to the shops and pubs, though we kept our car on the street and had no problems parking. The hotel is just the right size to offer true personal attention from the staff. The breakfast room is bright and cheerful. The dining room is warm and inviting and Hanigans Pub is friendly and fun. A charming, traditional hotel...
