“Over Priced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2007

Stayed in this hotel recently. A good location from the town centre. Hotel overly priced. The staff on reception were fine but the staff in the bar left alot to be desired. There was a baldy guy behind the bar and a have to say he had to much to say for himself. He totally turned his eyes up to heaven when a american tourist asked him for two Irish coffees - wasn't nice and the tourist saw him do it. The bar food wasn't bad but the place lacked atmosphere - mentioned on website about live music the weekends didn't see sight of any musicans. Breakfast was ok but they could do with heating the sausages, rashers etc up, every morning they were stone cold. There was a constant smell in the hallway from the swimming pool which could certainly be sorted out. So overall only ok but certainly I have stayed in nicer hotels for less money.

We had a lovely 3 night stay at this hotel, made special by its convenient location. The staff were very helpful and the room was clean. We ate in the Saddler's Bar every night because the food was good and reasonable and the tables were well attended by the helpful staff and were kept clean inbetween customers. However I must add that although the breakfast was satisfactory, the restaurant was looking tired and in need of refurbishment. The chairs in particular looked like they needed a good scrub! This put us off booking a table for an evening meal. We did not use the pool although the facilities looked good. You did have to wear swimming caps, not something that we are used to but can appreciate the need for hygiene.

  • Liked — The staff were very kind and welcoming
  • Disliked — The restaurant was not very clean

We are regular guests in the Holiday Inn in Killarney and always recommend it to our friends as a really nice hotel to stay in. It caters for children which is a rare find and a big plus. The Leisure facilities are just what you need after a days shopping in Killarney and the Holiday Inn is ideally located for day trips and adventurous walks in nearby Muckross. Keep up the good work!!

A very clean, very tidy property. we were driving through killarney looking for accomodation, eeverywhere seemed full from those we called so as we were driving past the Holiday Inn we called to see if they had any rooms left...to our luck there was a cancellation and they had one. we checked in with thoughts of "OK, we're staying at a holiday Inn, we'll suck it up for tonnight".
Much to the contrary, lovely check in, very efficient, room was very clean, tidy, comfy and maybe a little cosy but suited us perfect.. we went down to the bar where there was a substantial bar menu, lots of choice and from the 4 dishes we had I would expect all good... nice live music, good atmosphere in the bar ....

beds were nice and cosy, breakfast in the morning was lovely and nice waiting staff,

Altogether a nice refreshing place to stay

  • Liked — friendly

My family and I toured Ireland this summer and stayed at a number of hotels. The Holiday Inn in Kilarney had to be the worst. Our room had the odor of spoiled milk for 2 days. The only other room we were offered was one that reeked of cigarette smoke with furniture that was torn. My mother's room was no better with the carpets filthy and furniture with large tears. The walls in all the halls, the resturant floors, many dishes and bar glasses were dirty. Unfortunately we were with a large tour group and could not change hotels. There were lovely places all around Killarney...this was not one!
