“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

We stumbled across this restaurant on our recent tour of Ireland. My husband really wanted some traditional cabbage and potatoes. We went by several restaurants with menus in the window but none had his dish. When we saw this one offered it we had to give it a try and we were so glad we did. Our traveling companion said it was the best meal she had on the whole trip. Everything was cooked to perfection and the dessert was out of this world. We wished we could have eaten there more on our trip but were glad we found it before we left. Scrumptious food!

“try the bailey's cheesecake!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

The fish pie is carbs galore. There are three scoops of potatoes on top and it comes with a side of another three scoops of potatoes. Along with the fish at the bottom of the dish, there are also mussels and clams. The seafood in it tasted fresh and overall the dish was flavorful. But because it was such a gargantuan portion, I felt like I was Adam Richman on Man vs. Food after the first half. Needless to say, I couldn't finish it all.

Try the Bailey's cheesecake! I'm not sure if they make it in house but whoever made it definitely put a generous helping of Irish cream in there! No complaints there

“Lovely food, good portions....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013 via mobile

We visited Caragh last year and found it excellent so we returned again ladt week. Once again we were not disappointed. Food was excellent with good big portions served quickly and piping hot. The staff were nice and friendly and we have no hesitation in recommending this little gem.

“Good food, pity about staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

Had mixed grill, priced at E18.95 which would be average enough for the area. It was really nice, large portion. Found the staff very unfriendly. After ordering, the cultery were 'slapped' onto the table. The staff while not serving gather in a corner at the top of the restaurant talking, while staring down at the customers, Found this very uncomfortable. A customer advised one of the staff that she remembered her from last year and she just said oh really, she could have engaged more with the customer (it wasn't that busy at the time). The customer made the effort to come back, she could have made the effort to engage with her. Another staff member passed my table and sneezed without putting her hand up to her mouth.
To finish on a positive note, the menu is good, offered 3 courses for E19.95 or many forms of a grill, eg liver, eggs, bacon. Staff just need to put in a better effort.

“Great value family meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013 via mobile

We, a family of 4 adults and 3 children have just eaten in The Caragh Restaurant this evening. The facade & interior may look a little off putting but it really is a bit of a rough diamond! Now, fine dining it is not but if you are looking for a good value "proper" dinner you can't go wrong here. The staff were extremely friendly , helpful & attentive. The menu is pretty good with something to suit everyone particularly a family. The children's menu is very good with more than just the usual nuggets & chips on offer. We availed of the 3 course meal which for €19.99 was amazing. Plenty of vegetables, potatoes and the steaks were cooked to perfection. Our bill came to €119 with four 3 course meals, one 2 course, 2 children's meals incl ice creams, and 4 drinks. All enjoyed immensely..if we were staying here tomorrow night we would eat here agin & we are only sorry we ate in the hotel restaurant last night... Give it a go - you won't be disappointed.
