First visit to Galway after a long flight to Dublin from Atlanta. After arriving at the Galway bus depot, we began our trek up College Road to the B&B's we passed coming in. First one was full and we were sent to the Balcony House. Met hostess Teresa Coyne and she was very accomodating. A room for three was immediately made available, and after a change of clothes we were ready to see the sights. At this point Teresa turned into a travel agent and recommended places to eat and shop. When we mentioned we wanted to visit the Cliffs of Moher, she arranged for the tour bus to pick us up in front of the Balcony House the next morning, saving the walk into downtown Galway! Breakfast was excellent! If you are used to the rooms and food in the U.S. Hotels, then this may not be your cup of tea (no pun intended). As the saying goes, "when in Rome...". But since this was only a place to clean up and rest after a long day, you can't beat it. And for 45 Euros per person, the price beat any hotel in the area. I highly recommend the Balcony House for a good night's rest and excellent Irish breakfast.

After arriving from a turbulent transatlantc flight and making the discovery that my inital hotel arrangements had fallen through I went to college road and found Balcony House. Teresa the hostess was absolutely genuine and kind. She showed me to the room, offered me tea after all the travelling and was most kind and helpful with anything else I needed throughout. The accomodation is in a nice part of the city, close to the city centre but not noisy. The rooms are clean and warm and en suite. There is parking at the front. The breakfast was delicious, full irish breakfast with pudding and rashers and sausages, freshly cooked. I WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN

Stayed here as part of a tour group. Tired B&B in the College Road string of B&Bs - bed was not comfortable and linens were worn. Breakfast was adequate but not the best had on a 2 week stay around the island. Staff was lovely though and very thoughtful, which made up for it.

After leaving Dublin, Galway was our first stop outside the capital. We arrived rather late in the afternoon, but were relieved when this listing from our guidebook had a room. We were charged 50 euros per person (the most we paid for a B&B on our trip) for a shabby room and a mediocre breakfast. The linens and furnishing were not just dated, but plain worn out (our bedspread had multiple holes in it). Considering our late booking, I was glad to have a room at all. However, if you can plan ahead, I would look elsewhere.
