Description: Ard Bia at Nimmos restaurant in Galway City enjoys one of Galways most romantic locations in a gorgeous upstairs room with lovely views of the river, hard by the Spanish Arch. This restaurant is famous in Galway and beyond for the stupendous quality of its cuisine and its professional and welcoming service, all in a charming setting. The dcor is rustic boho chic with quirky details. You might find fresh local garden blooms on your table in a tin coffee pot, for instance. The seasonally-changing Irish/Moroccan/North African eclectic menu blows you away with dishes like the Gubeen antipasto dish, all made with the finest and freshest of local ingredients. Ard Bias commitment to live and modern art make it a happening place, though if you just want to come for the great food and service and see why the restaurant won Regional Restaurant of the Year from Food & Wine Magazine, no one will mind.

“I'm in love... but actually IN LOVE with this restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2014

My experience at Ard Bia was probably the most pleasant experience I have ever had. I am a foodie, so choosing a restaurant means a lot to me. Ard Bia was such a wonderful experience because of the ambiance, friendly staff, family feel and absolutely fantastic food. The brown bread must be eaten slowly because the flavor, without anything to alter it, bursts in your mouth. The texture is wonderful. It is seriously lucky if you have the intelligence to choose this restaurant over others. The veggie brunch and the ham lunch were unbelievable. The meals were actually something I couldn't believe I was eating. Both entrees looked like a paintings and tasted like something you would taste if you were royalty. DO NOT MISS THIS restaurant, please. Give them your money because it will be the best 10 euros you'll spend. Oh, did I not mention the meals are so reasonably priced you should stock up and get 10 meals just to experience the joy over and over again? Just do it.... do NOT pass by this restaurant, you will regret it.

“Don't Miss It!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2014

Such a quaint restaurant with really nice staff. Right by the river and Spanish Arch. I had a brunch pancake with fruit which was tremendous. Also had a very nice cup of tea with my wife. A great break from the "chips" and the pub scene. Loved it!

“Galway Gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

Stumbled upon this little gem on a recent trip to Galway and were fortunate enough to get a late booking. It is located in a stone building by the Spanish Arch with the river rushing alongside. The interior is warm and inviting, like stepping into a nearby farmhouse. Candles provide a touch of romance! The atmosphere alone is reason to stop in but the delicious food makes this a special venue. Each dish was filled with local, fresh ingredients, well prepared, often with an interesting twist. For mains we opted for the cod and the spiced monkfish, both were wonderful and the brown bread was exceptional! It is a small restaurant and it is advisable to book. Hope to return!

“Delicious Brunch Beside The Spanish Arch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

Galway's Good Food Festival certainly brought the crowds to the City of the Tribes last weekend. The Spanish Arch area was heaving with hoards of hungry visitors in search for some delicious treats. We wandered along under the Spanish Arch and happened upon Ard Bia. The place was busy but we welcomed and quickly seated at a table overlooking the river Corrib. The sun was shining and there was a wonderful energy in the whole area. The menu was interesting with both hot and cold dishes on offer. The owner though busy had a word for everyone. 'Yes Darling', and 'of course, Darling' echoed around the restaurant. Nothing was too much trouble & she clearly wanted everyone to leave happy & satisfied. I had the breakfast poached eggs & bacon which were delicious served with delicious home made bread. My companions one had a vegetable burger with amazing salad while my daughter also had the poached eggs. Overall a wonderful unhurried brunch with prompt, efficient service on a mega busy day in Ard Bia at the Spanish Arch in Galway. Thank you so much :-))
