Description: Ard Bia at Nimmos restaurant in Galway City enjoys one of Galways most romantic locations in a gorgeous upstairs room with lovely views of the river, hard by the Spanish Arch. This restaurant is famous in Galway and beyond for the stupendous quality of its cuisine and its professional and welcoming service, all in a charming setting. The dcor is rustic boho chic with quirky details. You might find fresh local garden blooms on your table in a tin coffee pot, for instance. The seasonally-changing Irish/Moroccan/North African eclectic menu blows you away with dishes like the Gubeen antipasto dish, all made with the finest and freshest of local ingredients. Ard Bias commitment to live and modern art make it a happening place, though if you just want to come for the great food and service and see why the restaurant won Regional Restaurant of the Year from Food & Wine Magazine, no one will mind.

“Excellent food and atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

I went to nimmos as part of a group of seven people. It was my first time there. I chose the vegetarian breakfast. It was a strange combination of poached eggs and spinach but was excellent. We were all served our food at the same time which is important when there are a few people together. The service was also excellent, he couldn't do enough for us We were not rushed out of the restaurant when we were finished our food either. It is an intriguing restaurant with many things to look at inside and sits right on the river in the Spanish Arch. Even though I live in Galway I am ashamed to say that I have never visited this restaurant before. I will definitely be returning soon.

“Truly worth it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

This little restaurant is a gem. Don't miss it. The food is locally sourced, the menu changes with the seasons but the quality and charm never go out of fashion. We had lunch here which is a cost effective way to sample the food. Go with the specials, whatever they are you won't be sorry.

“Comedy of errors!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012 via mobile

Bad over all experience. The service was criminally slow. My starter was cold when it should have been hot. One of our steaks was ordered medium rare and arrived cremated. It was a birthday celebration and the staff gave our cake away to another table. The staff were hit and miss. Extortionately over priced for the quality received. Had heard great reviews, but will never go again and will certainly never recommend this restaurant to anybody.

“Best meal of our trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

We were in Ireland for a week and Galway was our last stop. I'm so happy the B&B recommended making reservations for this place because it was the best meal we had the entire week. The waitress was friendly, food just amazing - we shared mussels, and I had the steak. It was cooked perfectly. The only negative was the bartendar didn't open the wine too well so there was a little piece of cork in one of the glasses. Otherwise, the next time we're in Galway we're definitely returning.

Two people, 4 courses, for €72. Everything delicious. Lovely atmosphere. Desserts particularly remarkable.
