I just recently came back from a family reunion with relatives in attendance from the US and Ireland. The meeting point was in Galway. We actually stumbled on this hotel because my aunt and uncle who hosted this reunion were staying here. We initially had booked with a B&B in Galway, and much to our dismay, we were displeased with its services and lack of courtesy from the B&B owner. I don't doubt that there are great B&Bs in Galway (there are many to choose from), but if I had to do it all over again, I would highly recommend staying at the Blackrock House hotel. The customer service was wonderful. They were willing to accomodate us when we walked in; rooms are spacious and clean with many amenities; the hotel is newly built; the restaurant/pub that is adjacent is a great "extra" (brother and sister-in-law had a couple of beers and lunch there and said the food was "awesome") to the actual hotel itself. My father-in-law who loves ice cream, purchased several pints for himself and kindly asked if the desk staff would store his ice cream in the freezer for the kitchen. They kindly offered to do this at no charge. My father-in-law was also able to send for laundry services. The pricing was very reasonable for such a nice lodging experience. All in all, customer service was well above and beyond what was expected. The hotel is not located close to the City Centre, but is within a reasonable 10-15 minute drive. I'd highly recommend anyone visiting to stay here.
