It is a pleasure to highly recommend Heron's Rest Bed & Breakfast. As an on-location author from NYC I stayed nearly four weeks here June/July 2008 and was delighted with my room and bath (attractive, clean, comfortable, wine/coffee/tea/flower/homemade muffin treats and a view to die for), the location (walk everywhere without car), computer connection and a breakfast so unique that guests took photos of their food. My sky-high recommendation also results from visiting with happy worldwide guests each morning at breakfast. Ms Molloy cooks, serves, relates Galway stories, goes out of her way to help with daily travel plans and enters into the lively discussions She's a Galway treasure and lucky are the guests who find their way to Heron's Rest. During my stay, the quiet harmony allowed me to complete a book.

Sorcha runs an excellent B&B, unique in its central location, reasonable price and unrivalled welcome. The three staff I met (including Sorcha) were friendly and accommodating, and made me feel immediately at home. Those familiar with traditional Irish B&B style will be agreeably surprised with the attention to detail and friendliness of this address, including the welcome from Arthur, the eponymous Heron. I reccommend this to anyone visiting Galway.

Booked a room for a couple of weeks in advance for 2 nights in june and i had paid a deposit by credit card.
when i arrived the girl who let me in seemed a bit confused after i told her my name and then mumbled something about it being too early to check in (around 13.00) took my phone number after she checked the book and saw my name and she would contact me later when room was available.
30 mins later i get a call to say the room is unavailable and alternative accomadtion had been arranged for me. told them to shove it and sorted myself out and got my deposit back.
thankfully i know galway and it was early enough to do that cant imagine if i was a tourist and arriving late what i'd do.

stayed at this guest house for the galway race weekend,
at first all seemed well, the r ooms were nice but the single rooms you have to share a toilet and shower room!!!
the water is not hot enough either.

breakfast was nice. all was well untill my friends bag was stolen from her room, when we r eturned from the races, no one seemed to be bothered and the owner was away, the young girl who works there had said that here bag had been stolen 3 TIMES !!!!.
When we checking out they said that we hadnt paid but then realised we had by credit card some weeks ago. so off we went , only to receive a phone call 3 days later !! to tell us that a further 320 euros had been taken off our credit card, without our permission!
then the owner realised she had made a mistake and refunded 100 euro back .... were was the rest??

apparently now there is a car park fee, and in very small print on an email from her was an exta fee because it was the race weekend ! on thier website it states one price and then another for race week but now there is ANOTHER PRICE!!!! .. well at this point it was a joke, the attitude from the owner is appaulling, not only was my friends bag taken with here mediction ,money etc. now all these extra charges with no appologies, for what had happend in here guest house.

what a shame as galway is so nice, but there are much nicer guest houses to stay in around that area, that have a warmer welcome, and have websites that are correct with no HIDDEN CHARGES. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !!
