A great night to spend after a hard day cycling from Limerick (66 miles). The place was spotless & we were given a very friendly welcome. There was also a place to store our expensive bikes for the night too. Car park was a good size for a B&B aswell.
The rooms were large a very clean with the added benefit of a desk top fridge. The TV had plenty of choice aswell.
Bathroom was great & the shower was superb.
We walked into the centre (30 mins) but there were plenty of buses along the way we could have got on. I was able to use the internet in the guest lounge aswell.
Breakfast was great. The scrambled eggs must have come from an Ostericchh as there was loads.
On our departure we met outside by our hosts to say goodbye etc. & chatted a while before we set off.
I would highly recommend staying here to anyone & would certainly come again in the future. A very well organised place to stay but with the really friendly atmosphere made Abacus
overall, the best place we stayed in on our 10 night cycle tour of the whole of Ireland.
Great place.

A nice warm welcome by the 'boss in training' - daughter of Breege & Noel. Everyone in the place was astounded that we were not staying for the Galway Festival, but we were talked in to spending a few hours at the races & a few Euros at the same time! A really nice Guest House, verging on a small Hotel & therefore priced a little on the high side. The place has all the gadgets you could ever want - internet, TV, fridge in room, etc. A lovely place, nice family, fair location for the City, but I though the room was a litte cramped in comparison with other B&B's we stayed in.

  • Liked — Its a mini hotel

This place is perfect for your Galway stay. Bridge and Naul are very accomodationg and the rooms are huge, big bathrooms and great breakfast. The location is five minutes form City Centre and quiet. The house was built as a bed and breakfast and is lovely. Naul told us which pubs to go to for traditional music and it was great. We even saw the two of them that night.

Recently visited Europe and UK for 8 weeks, so stayed in plenty of B & B's in that time. Abacus was THE BEST by FAR, of all we visited. Large rooms, great facilities, but best of all were the unbelievably friendly and helpful hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. They loaned us maps, walked outside & showed us roads, and were generally genuinely helpful and friendly. (not as common as a traveller would hope believe me!) The room was great value, fantastically located (100m from bus stop to city centre costing 1.2 euro), and they even had internet access in the dining room! I can't say enough good things about this B&B. It is just fantastic. The only place to stay if in Galway.

My wife and I stayed at Abacus House for two days in May 2007. Breege and Noel were absolutely wonderful hosts (don't let them fool you, the daughter is the boss). Abacus is wonderfully located for touring Galway and all there is to see in the surrounding area. The O’ Shaughnessy's helped us book a last minute tour of the Aran Islands. The accomodations and meals were great and we got two things at Abacus that we were not able to find in any of out other stays during our 19 day holiday. One was "free" internet access. I was finally able to send email and pictures back to our friends in the states. The second was the "best shower" I have ever had. The hot water and water pressure was phenominal. I have never felt so clean. Would I stay a Abacus again, in a heart beat.
