Abacus GH lived up to our expectations - based on all the reviews below.

Louise went the extra mile - giving helpful advice, helping us find a pharmacy at 5pm on Christmas eve.

Room and bathroom were large with loads of added extras like a fridge, toiletries, decaf coffee satchets.... But you do pay for these luxuries!

Only negative was the bright security light that was shining into our room in the evening but Breege and Louise assured me that it would be attended to!

Greatly enjoyed our stay. Galway is a great location to take a day trip to to the Cliffs of Moher. The B&B is very clean and has all the amenity basics. The food is predictable, but fresh and served with a friendly smile. The room is equitable to a 2.5 to 3 star moderate hotel. The staff is attentive and supportive of pleasing guests. We'd recommend this B&B to our friends.

After having stayed in great B&B’s in Ireland, we were a bit disappointed with Abacus. It just didn’t have the kind of atmosphere we found in other places. It was difficult to find, the room was too hot and it wasn’t possible to turn the heat off; there was a big window just in front of the bed and the street lights shined in, and the blankets were a bit old. Really liked the small fridge, though. There’s a kettle, some teabags and hairdryer in the room. It was okay, but we were expecting a much more charming place...

Management response from Abacus-Management, Owner
(Management representative)
Nov 5, 2007
In relation to the above, others never had a problem finding us as we are located on the main Dublin Road out of Galway city. Also, a map is available on our website. All of the radiators in the bedrooms can be turned off individually. All curtains in the bedrooms are heavily lined and when closed the room is in darkness. The comment regarding the blankets are misleading since the blankets were replaced at the beginning of the season.

We stayed at several B&B's in Ireland and found this to be the nicest in terms of physical accommodations. However the cost was a bit higher than the others. The owner provided a wealth of info about transportation, nightlife, places to eat, local attractions, etc. Breakfast was typical of the B&B's in offering an assortment of foods. Greatly enjoyed our experience there.
