If your idea of a nice hotel involves rude and incompetent staff who try to charge you twice and are unwilling to deal with the stag and hen parties shouting and smoking in the corridor and slamming doors at 4am, hairdryers that don't work, queues for tables for the substandard breakfast and traffic noise from the busy street below all for an extemely extortionate rate then this is the place for you. If not then give it a very wide berth. An absolute waste of time and money. Seriously don't bother.

Stayed the week of the galway races and other than being overpriced it was fine. Clean, lovely staff other than the receptionist who thinks shes a very inportant person, It was great. Would recommend it.

Recently stayed in the Western Hotel Prospect hill Galway for the races. Great location near the Radisson and Eyre Square.
Breakfast and rooms were good.
Room rate was expensive but then so is everywhere race weekend.

We had no idea what to expect when we booked the Western in Galway. The city was difficult to navigate at rush hour and the one-way street maze. We drove by it twice before we were able to negotiate into the correct lane to turn into the parking garage. The car park was very small, but the staff took our keys and promised to move our car into a spot after the commercial users went home. The reception area was unremarkable as it looked like a closet at the end of the first floor hall. The room was average size for a triple, clean, and comfortable. The surprise was the pub and restaurant. We had walked around Eyre Park area and decided that the the hotel was the best option at the time. (We had not yet found Shop Street 2 blocks away.) The menu had a good selection and the beer hit the spot after 3 hours on the road. We were also pleasantly surprised that the bar was hosting a local Irish caleigh that night as part of the Arts Festival. Breakfast was very good - nice selection of hot and cold items and the coffee was good. Traffic was crowded when we left at 9 AM on a weekday.
