I stayed here for 2 nights in mid August and had a largely positive experience. Geraldine was extremely friendly and the young lady who checked me in and who manages reception at night couldn't have been more helpful and personable. Breakfast was ok. Atmospheric (served in a garden room), tasty, and sufficient choice including a basic fry up (eggs, bacon and sausage). Although, if you're looking for the legendary, full Irish breakfast, I don't think you're going to find it here. Otherwise, it's perfectly acceptable.
I only have 3 complaints, one major and two minor. I stayed in the single room on the ground floor just down the hallway from reception. I was told ahead of time that it was small, so that wasn't the problem. It was fine for me, though the bathroom and bed were all in one room together. My major complaint was of being woken up several times during the night when other guests came in. This was partly due to they're being loud, but I also think the room was just poorly insulated.
One minor complaint was the absence of a remote control for the TV. Admittedly, it was easily reachable from the bed, but still I had no way to modulate the volume which was extremely annoying. Also, the carpet in the bedroom area was clearly old (70's?) and looked grungy. While it might have been clean, I was reluctant to risk it and so had to wear my shoes all the time around the bed.
All in all though, worth the very reasonable price for it's location and the wonderful staff.
