CONVENIENT LOCATION - the B&Bs in College Rd (this is one of about 10) are the closest to the Coach/Railway Station and City Centre - 10 mins walk.
CLEAN - the rooms are modern, very clean, and recently decorated..
COST - @ 55 euros a night for a single person,. You could find a cheaper B&B. But with so central a location ?
(If you prefer to be near the sea, check out this site for the B&Bs in Salthill, on the other side of the City - 15 mins walk from the Centre).
HOST - Geraldine is mindful of her guests. Arriving late ? Push open the front door, and your key is in the envelope on the table. Want some more tea/biscuits for your room ? Just ask.
PERSONAL TIP - 1) the CUBA BAR (just off N.E. corner of Eyre Sq) - about 10 mins walk away - has a live 15 piece Big Band (Mons), a 7 piece Latin Band (Weds), and a dance floor !
2) Like SEA SWIMMING ? Go to Salthill, about 3 miles away, on the othe side of the City, where you will find a dedicated facility (changing room and pier), where people swim EVERDAY of the year (sea temp in Oct was 15 degrees C). Nice!

the Asgard is located in a long row of B+Bs. it is really close to the main parts of galway (within a 5-10 min walk) and very easy to stumble home. it's very clean and beds are comfortable. great value, true irish hospitality.

our room was extremely small--no special amenities. however, if you are just looking for place to crash, the asgard provides a good landing spot. if you are looking for something with more flavor and special touches, I wouldn't stay here.

The place has a perfect location, only 5 min walking to the city center. Very clean and really nice breakfast. Familiar atmosphere and the staff working there will make you feel as you were in your own home. Thanks Geraldine.

We stayed two days at Asgaard House and enjoyed it very much. It's in a great location - just a short walk to the activity of the city, one in a long row of guest houses.

Geraldine, the owner, went out of her way to be helpful. I don't agree at all with the criticisms I've read here - every time we saw her she took the time to give us advice on what to do, how to get there, etc.

The room was good. Smaller than many B&Bs in Ireland, but not bad for a city. The breakfasts were big and good.

I would absolutely stay there again.

  • Liked — The owner's helpfulness, the location
  • Disliked — Room for three was not large
