“charming place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2012

We arrived at Galway in the evening, and were driving around to look for accomodation when stumbled upon Hillside B&B. Found it a beautiful and charming place for our night. It is within convenient walking distance to the city centre. The host was kind and welcoming, and was attentive to our needs. There is a car park in the house, and wifi connection is good in the room. Lovely breakfast.

My partner and I rocked up in Galway late one Saturday evening to find that everywhere was totally booked apart from one room at the Hillside B & B. The owner was just the sweetest lady we had ever met, I was all on for putting her in my luggage and bringing her home with us!! :-) She ensured we were comfortable in our room and had everything we needed and then advised us on the quickest route to town and asked us to have a couple of glasses of wine for her too :-) The price of the room was the same as the hostel we stayed in the following evening and Hillside B&B was far superior if you are looking for the same criteria as us...far enough from the bars to not be kept awake until the early hours but close enough to be able to go for a good few drinks and stumble home within 5mins, a comfortable bed with ensuite shower, tea and coffee facilities in the room etc etc.

The only thing I have marked the B&B down on is the rooms and this is only because the one we stayed in was a little 'out of date' but it was immaculately clean and tidy :-)

Would highly recommend this B&B.

Oh and the breakfast was SUPERB :-)

My husband arrived in Galway late one Saturday night and stopped in at this lovely looking B&B to see if they had anything available (although we were sure it would be the more expensive than what we were used to from the outside and inside). However, the charming proprietess, Maura Hardiman, gave us the only room she had left (a family room with a queen bed and attached bath and a separate room with 3 twin beds attached) for only 56 euros (including full breakfast). And although we had to leave very early, before breakfast could be served, she left us out some juice, fresh fruit, and yogurt to get us going. So thoughtful and kind! There were also complete tea making facilities in our room so we were able to do that too! She even offered us the use of her computer if we needed! We will DEFINITELY be back our next time in Galway!
The location is very central, next to ample free parking (although she has a large gated driveway for you to park in) and right downtown. Perfect!
