“Great Hotel, Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2009

Stayed here for a night during the Galway races, expecting the hotel to be mad. It was. But everything seemed to be under control. The rooms were spacious, and there was a turndown service- a nice touch. We didnt dine at the hotel, we ventured into Galway City Centre ~ 10/15 mins walk. If you fancy the walk, there are some pretty good deals for food in the city centre. We found lots of 2 courses for €20 and eventually settled on a 3 course meal for €22.95 per person with a drink of your choice included. Think it was called Kirbys. Worth finding this hidden gem. Had a few beers in the hotel and retired early. Breakfast was amazing. You could probably eat enough there to keep you going until breakfat the next morning it had everything you could possibly want for breakfast, and a paper to keep you company whilst one half of your party was away at (one of) the buffet table. Hope to be back soon

First impressions are crucial and so it was with our request for directions to the Courtyard. We were 200 mtrs from the hotel and rang for directions. Five calls, 1hr 8mins and numerous Kilometres later, we found our destination. The moral is if you ring a reception, it is essential that you intreface with a courteous member of staff who delivers concise and equally important, clear information. Our breakdown in communications was only rectified on our 5th call when we insisted on speaking to someone who was more understanding and had a better grasp of the English language.
The following day while enjoying the short stroll into Ayre Square we were stopped by a frustrated US family who were lost having recieved directions from the same staff member on reception, the driver was unable to follow the obscure directions and understand the dilaect being spoken. We gave the family directions.
Once our initial frustration passed we enjoyed our stay and the SPA was excellent.
On checking out we observed other guests encoutering problems with the manner of the Receptionist highlighted above. The good name of the Hotel is at stake.

We stayed in the Mariott in November 07 and again a few times since. The rooms are fantastic. Massive beds, nice and quiet, very clean and comfy. Fabulous spread for breakfast. Next time we go to Galway we will definately stay there!

I have stayed a few times in this hotel and used their spa. The rooms are not really big but are comfortable, rates have always been good value. On one occassion we got a great deal on accommodation, dinner and spa treats. Spa is fabulous ideal for relaxing.
Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Hotel has a really nice atmosphere.
The location is ok its a good 15 minute walk into the city centre but there is a cinema and shopping area across the road. no problem getting taxis into town though. I have recommended this hotel to loads of friends and they have always enjoyed their stay there too!

Overall was not impressed with this hotel. 15+ min walk from the city center. Frech manager named Marquis very rude. The bar area is nice. Rooms are normal. Overall I would say to stay in the city center at the Jurys.

My wife and I stayed for a two night break in April 2009. The hotel is easy to get to and within walking distance of the city centre. The rooms are very comfortable and have everything you would expect. The bar and restaurant were very good and the food was excellent. The buffet breakfast in the morning gives a huge amount of options and the evening food in the restaurant was excellent. The bar is comfortable and the guy on piano Friday nights is really entertaining. The spa is one of the highlights of the hotel with all guests getting access to the thermal suite. Overall, the thing that impressed us most was the level of customer service. All staff we encountered were very helpful and made the stay very enjoyable.

This was one of the best Marriott hotels that I have stayed in. It is definitely the best courtyard that I have stayed in. Very modern hotel with very efficient staff. The food was excellent; Club Sandwich was just like it should be! Rooms are very spacious and the beds were very comfortable the only bad thing is the rush hour traffic, and of course the unpredictable west of Ireland weather!
