“Fabulous service with style”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012 via mobile

We took the Dublin to Galway train which is 10 mins from the hotel . Taxi fares only €8 max ! Location is walking distance to Eyre Square. ( without shopping ! ) Great value from the beginning. The hotel overlooks Galway bay at the front so MAKE SURE you ask for room with sea view or you could be overlooking the Carpark of a nearby shopping centre! That was the only downside though.
Rooms are very spacious with larger wardrobes than most hotels complete with bathrobes & slippers, leading into a very large marble bathroom with big jacussi bath one side and large shower other side.
We had a problem with the hot water which was promptly and efficiently sorted by the excellent staff.
The beds ARE AMAZINGLY COMFORTABLE. Very difficult to get up when I could have quite happily rested in them all day
The restaurant is very conveniently located at the front of the hotel faceing the sea but the windows are draped in net curtains ( not a good look ) . Seating is quirky as some if the settings are almost booth like. Breakfast is buffet style but with menu too. All of the foods are beautifully cooked and delicious . Lots of pots of tea and coffees from the staff who were constantly available and ever so obliging.
Beside the restaurant is the bar area with great searing too and plenty of cocktails on the menu !
Next to the bar is a cerise pink lounge area where you can eat and drink too or just relax. Very much as you'd expect from this stylishly furnished hotel. Next to this area is a larger cream room with huge floor to ceiling window with NO net curtains ( thankfully ) facing the bay. This is my favourite zone. Two large stone fireplaces ( real fire burning ) dominate each wall and the large creamy sofas & chairs with great circular mirrors make this a very chique restrained elegant space which is perfect for afternoon tea and all of the fantastic foods prepared by the chef Pauline. The presentation is top class & the food divine. A grand piano is positioned near the window and adds a great sense of classy style here. Loved it.
The lobby area is all black polished marble . It's quite dark, in fact the hotel is very dimly lit in the corridors which are very large but because the high grade carpets add to the luxury and the silence it almost creates a sense if tranquility and quietness.
The concierge was available anytime we needed him. Excellent service, the hotel accommodated our every needs and couldn't have been more helpful.
This hotel is truly on top of its game and 5 star service WITH A SMILE is such a winner with me, and to add the price of €166 overnight with fabulous breakfast each nite is enough of a reason for me to return again!

Requested early check in but even though we arrived late room was still not ready. Went to the bar to wait which had no staff ready to serve, when we did get served the glasses were dirty. Got up to the room and there was rubbish still in the press from past guests, stains on the floor and the most uncomfortable pillows you could imagine. Trying to stay positive and settled down to watch tv which was so old the picture was out of sync with the sound, really irritating. The location is ok but sure there would be better for cheaper!!

We've been spending one night at the G Hotel and were impressed by the design of the interior and the rooms. We were looking forward to use the SPA but then got very disappointed to hear at the front desk that it can only be used in combination with a treatment (at least 20 Euro) and only on appointments. For use it is a very uncomfortable / inflexible way to grant access to a SPA and on top of that to request an entry price. For that reason, we won't stay at the G anymore.

Stayed here 9th and 10th of this month.
First impressions were great and the front of the Hotel is very nice, check in was quick and there was free underground parking. Rooms were nice an clean but there was no wifi in our room, the fan didn't work in the bathroom and the soap dish was hanging from the wall. Also there was only a bath which you stood in to have a shower, while this was fine it didn't feel 5 star.
I mentioned it to reception about the wifi, fan and soap dish and they fixed the soap dish, nothing else.
Also the view from our room was of a carpark in an industrial area, which didn't bother us much but isn't much of a view.
Our first days breakfast was in the bar which was used as an overflow for the restaurant. Nobody came near us to see what we wanted but we were free to use the buffet. Again this isn't a big thing and the food was lovely, but i thought these little touches are what makes a 5 star rather than a 4 star hotel. On second days breakfast we were in restaurant and food and service were first class.
There is a 20 euro charge to use the spa area which is usually included in price of stay in most hotels. This means that even if you only want to use the jacuzzi or sauna you pay 20 euro.
To sum up, it's a very nice hotel but to be a 5 star they need to up their service a little or else just call it a 4 star.
Another plus was they gave us an extra hour to check out at no extra charge.

We travelled to the G Hotel in Galway for my husbands 40th birthday, we chose the bank holiday weekend in October for a trip. I booked the G without knowing to much about it, OMG what a surprise we got, we were provided with a complentary room upgrade which was a great start to what can only be described as an amazing weekend of luxury and exceptional food. As for the staff, I have a feeling they may be telepathic, they seem to know what you need before you have a chance to ask, we found every member of staff to polite and friendly and ever so help, nothing was an issue nothing. I have to say, I have travelled for many years and stayed at some amazing 5 star hotel, and usually I can find something to complain about no matter how small before I leave, this was not the case with the G Hotel, I could not fault it and we will be back again and I am so looking forward to it. My only regret was not trying out the Spa but I will be next time:-)
