We took the Dublin to Galway train which is 10 mins from the hotel . Taxi fares only €8 max ! Location is walking distance to Eyre Square. ( without shopping ! ) Great value from the beginning. The hotel overlooks Galway bay at the front so MAKE SURE you ask for room with sea view or you could be overlooking the Carpark of a nearby shopping centre! That was the only downside though.
Rooms are very spacious with larger wardrobes than most hotels complete with bathrobes & slippers, leading into a very large marble bathroom with big jacussi bath one side and large shower other side.
We had a problem with the hot water which was promptly and efficiently sorted by the excellent staff.
The beds ARE AMAZINGLY COMFORTABLE. Very difficult to get up when I could have quite happily rested in them all day
The restaurant is very conveniently located at the front of the hotel faceing the sea but the windows are draped in net curtains ( not a good look ) . Seating is quirky as some if the settings are almost booth like. Breakfast is buffet style but with menu too. All of the foods are beautifully cooked and delicious . Lots of pots of tea and coffees from the staff who were constantly available and ever so obliging.
Beside the restaurant is the bar area with great searing too and plenty of cocktails on the menu !
Next to the bar is a cerise pink lounge area where you can eat and drink too or just relax. Very much as you'd expect from this stylishly furnished hotel. Next to this area is a larger cream room with huge floor to ceiling window with NO net curtains ( thankfully ) facing the bay. This is my favourite zone. Two large stone fireplaces ( real fire burning ) dominate each wall and the large creamy sofas & chairs with great circular mirrors make this a very chique restrained elegant space which is perfect for afternoon tea and all of the fantastic foods prepared by the chef Pauline. The presentation is top class & the food divine. A grand piano is positioned near the window and adds a great sense of classy style here. Loved it.
The lobby area is all black polished marble . It's quite dark, in fact the hotel is very dimly lit in the corridors which are very large but because the high grade carpets add to the luxury and the silence it almost creates a sense if tranquility and quietness.
The concierge was available anytime we needed him. Excellent service, the hotel accommodated our every needs and couldn't have been more helpful.
This hotel is truly on top of its game and 5 star service WITH A SMILE is such a winner with me, and to add the price of €166 overnight with fabulous breakfast each nite is enough of a reason for me to return again!
