“Lovely staff, lovely breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2014

Basic room, had all the essentials. Gym and pool are super and nice clean changing rooms, breakfast was excellent, all the usual stuff plus pancakes, will definitely return. Only downside is a bit outside town, but we got bus in which was only €2.10 and stops right outside every 30mins and leaves you at eyre sq. €10 taxi home.

Just had a very pleasant stay in the Clybaun. Checked in by very pleasant & efficient receptionist, called Maria. Super room, spotless. Great location, will return. Only complaint would be lack of signs on approach roads.

Just returned from Hotel Clybaun Galway. Welcoming friendly staff, delicious food and a lovely atmosphere. There was a very good band playing on Saturday night
We will definitely go back for a visit soon. Ideally located for Salthill and Galway with frequent bus services to Eyre Square and a short drive to the beautiful promenade and beaches in Salthill.

Ample car parking, quick and efficient check in. Our room was lovely with new carpet so was nice and fresh. Went for food in the hotel bar and the menu was very varied and all came well prepared and very tasty. Marcin our server was a delight, he couldn't have been better.

This hotel was perfect for our first night in Galway, we got to go into the city and then returned to the hotel, which is located close to town but out of the noise of the city. Very friendly staff, and a good selection of breakfast foods

We stayed as a family of 5 in the Clybaun Hotel over Easter, we had a nice time, the hotel was clean and tidy, the lobby was spacious and spotless, except seating was on the limited side. The bar and the food served was beautiful, the bar/restaurant staff were friendly. The reception staff weren't overly friendly and I didn't feel them to be approachable. The swimming pool was fantastic except the ladies changing rooms were upstairs and having to carry an 11 month old up steps both soaking wet after being in the pool was on the dangerous side. We didn't ever have any problems finding a parking space, the hotel is not in a good location in that there was very little close by, you need to jump in the car to go places.

The double bed in our room was extremely uncomfortable although the room was a great size for us all and the bathroom was spotless. (Big rip in the carpet around the bed though). The main problem I had was the breakfast charges for my 5 and 4 year old, the hotel charges €5 EACH, for a continental or full irish breakfast! This has been the first hotel I have ever stayed in where they charge for small children who only had a glass of OJ and a bowl of cereal, especially when there are 2 full paying adults!! I have stayed in 'budget' motels/hotels who don't charge until the kids are 16!!! €40 is extremely excessive for 8 glasses of OJ and 8 small bowls of cereal!

My parents were staying in the room next to us, upon arrival their bedroom had an extremely bad snell of urine upon entering the room, when they told the reception staff they said they would get the toilet fixed, on this occasion I feel a change of room would have been appropriate, esp at the price of the rooms!!

Rooms are generally quiet at night esp as we have a young family a night sleep was great.

There is a hot tub outside but unfortunately as we had young kids with us we didn't get to try it out! Looked pretty popular though! There is a lovely outside area for kids to play and adults to enjoy a cuppa or drink in the good weather.

I don't know if I would go back as the prices are a bit on the excessive side when you are traveling with three young children.

Stayed one night in the Clybaun with some friends when we were going to a music event in Galway city. We booked a special offer for a family room online and I have to say that the hotel offered such great value and was of a much higher standard than we had expected. We were late arriving on the Sunday evening and decided to have some bar food which was really good! Our room was perfect - large, clean, warm and comfortable. The bathroom was big, spotless and well equipped. The staff throughout the hotel could not have been nicer. Add to that a great, late breakfast and we were on our way... I would recommend this hotel for a city break in Galway. It's a little bit away from the centre, but we had a car and GPS so it was easy to find...
