“Clybaun Galway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2011

Just spent 3 nights in the Clybaun Hotel just outside Galway city and Salthill between Xmas and new and year .We had a fantastic stay and enjoyed the very pleasant food, staff and facilities . Although there was little for kids to do apart from a lovely leisure centre the hotel was very welcoming and helpful towards all kids . We will return but for a weekend when we can hopefully sample some entertainment in the bar .Thanks Eoghan

i booked a twin room for my son and me just before christmas, we stayed for one night, i went to book in early and there was no problem with it but in the reception i slipped, staff were slow to react at first but then helped me up, i had to drop my son over to a christmas party so i didnt hang around and just brought him over, in the time that i was gone they had rang me once but i missed the call, i thought it was nice of them originally till i went back to the hotel and they handed me a accident report form as soon as i was back in the hotel. we then went up to the room and were getting settled my son picked up the information book that the hotel had supplied- in it the last guests had wrote on the pages lots of foul language and had drawn some porno suggestive stick figures- that my son then asked me about. next the guests in the room beside ours began a great conversation at about 6 and they didnt leave till about 10 to go out during this time i was trying to get my son settled but it didnt happen, then the guests on the other side of the hotel started making all sorts of noises that i really didn't want to have to try and explain to him, i brought both of us down to reception as a distraction i had my laptop with us and was told that there was WI-fi , but when i went downstairs to use it, it wasn't working. after a little while when i thought it would be safe i brought my son upstairs to bed, the next day we had an early start and didn't get back to lunch time, we checked out in good time and went into the bar to get some lunch, the waitress that came over and brought the food down ended up dropping my order on the floor beside me and some of the food landed on my shoe, she went back to replace the order , which when it came out the next time i realized the girl had taken the wrong order. we definitely wont be back there again.

Stayed here with my sister for 1 night, we were on a shopping trip to Galway. This hotel is fabulous. Our room was a suite, very nice. Used the gym & the pool. Excellent facicities. Had dinner & breakfast in hotel, everything was top notch. The bus departs just outside the door for the city centre, very convienent. All staff were lovely & polite & Sandra on reception was exceptionally nice & very helpful.
Will definately be returning to this hotel. Its a gem.

Great Hotel for a relaxing break. We stayed here on the 25/26 November and we had a great time. The Hotel is located between the City and Salthill, so not ideal for anyone wanting to be in the centre of Galway as its not walkable, however a taxi only takes about 10 mins and costs approx €10 so still very much accessible. There is also a local bus stopping outside the Hotel, this goes a bit around the houses but is only €1.80 per person and definitely the cheaper option for day time. The bus goes right into Eyre Square.
The Hotel is really lovely, rooms were comfortable with everything you need. Staff were very nice in all areas. We got a really good deal for the 2 nights on a 3rd party Website so Breakfast wasnt included but you could buy it for €9.50 per person. We didnt have Breakfast as we slept in on both mornings! We did eat in the bar one night and the food was excellent, very well priced and with a great choice on the menu. There was also a Restaurant which looked really nice, for anyone looking for a nice meal. Seemed to be very well priced too with a 3 course meal for €25.00. Sadly we didnt get to check out the Leisure Club but it looked fab so we will have to go back to try it out. Would definitely reccommend this Hotel for anyone looking for a relaxing break and not bothered by being in the centre of things.

Room Tip: We sent an email to front office requesting a nice room and on this occassion they were able to acco...

Stayed here for IM 70.3 in September. Got a great rate on alpharooms.com considering the weekend's events. Great for the location of the race (Salthill). I don't know what public transport links are, but it is a bit out of the city so be prepared.

Staff were great - they provided a good breakfast for athletes at 04:00am which was good. After the race, we came back to the hotel to collect bags - which they were happy to keep for us. Off the cuff I asked if they'd mind me having a quick shower, and they were too happy to let me use the leisure centre.

Unfortunately I forgot my mobile phone in the dressing room. The staff found it and posted it back to me the next day.. so THANKS :)

Cons: Need to update the carpets. Thats all?!
