I found this place on line read your reviews and booked a nights stay w/my 16y/o son.
Never having been to Galway we had no Idea what to expect. I have to say I felt like I hit some sort of Travel home run. The Place is a little jewel .Little being somewhat operative as the room was small but very nicely kept up. The owner Frank was charming and very hospitable. He runs a very tight ship!
We were within walking distance of a very lively downtown area and a rubby stadium as well.
Our only regret was that we only booked one night, next time we'll stay longer!!

We spent 3 nights at Petra House based on the reviews in TripAdvisor and had a wonderful stay. Frank and Joan are great hosts - very accomodating and friendly. The rooms are quiet and well kept. The beds are comfortable and the breakfasts are among the best we've ever had while travelling. The breakfast room is comfortable; the table is set with real china and the cooking is excellent. Ireland is expensive but Petra House is a bargain!

It was a wonderful way to find out why Petra House is rated the number one bed and breakfast in Galway. We had a triple and it was a huge bedroom with three beds - one single, one double and a queen. All their rooms have private bathrooms. We were on the third floor, and we could see the dogs race from our window (property overlooks the race track). Frank and Joan are fabulous people; always helpful and the breakfasts were great. Petra House is located on College Road, along with a host of other bed and breakfast. We walked everywhere. It's about a 10 minute walk to Eyre Square. We spent 4 awesome, rainy days at Galway and would go back in a heartbeat, and of course stay at the Petra House again.

It was around noon on a Thursday that we walked up the hill from the Galway train/bus station looking for Petra House, where we had a room reserved in advance. Nearly all the 15 or so B&B's on that stretch of College Road had signs out saying "Vacancies." Not Petra House. It was already fully booked. The reason is plain: Petra House is the best, and word has gotten round! Rooms are small but well-appointed and clean. Breakfast is ample, tasty, graciously served in a gorgeous dining room. Hosts are attentive. thoughtful, kind, good-humoured, but not intrusive. We stayed four nights and would welcome the chance to stay at Petra House again.

Greeted by Frank and his adorable son upon arrival after a long drive (got stuck behind a bus)and a round of golf at Lahinch. The rooms are cozy and comfortable with TV, and a lovely view of their spectacular garden out back. Make sure you ask to see it if you are a gardener. The sitting room is filled with Joan's collections of Llado. The breakfast room is equally as lovely and the breakfast is made to order and superb. Our host and hostess were very hospitable and helpful with places to eat and where to go. Within walking distance of Eyre Square and we also walked to the Quay area but it started to rain, so hailed a cab back-7 minutes. Recomment Au Pucan within 10 minutes walk for dinner. Recommend the Front Door for dinner and traditional music in the Quay area...great ice cream for dessert! Loved the Petra House!
