After traveling through lovely Ireland & staying in nearly a dozen B&Bs, the Petra House was by far the best. I think it may be the finest B&B in all of Ireland.
When you first enter the Petra House you will feel as if you're stepping into a fine gallery. It is brilliantly decorated and spotlessly clean yet warm and welcoming ~ I didn't want to leave!
Joan & Frank are wonderful people. I can not rave enough about their hospitality and kindness. Frank is the quintessential host who takes meticulous care of his guests and Joan's scones, sultana loaf and brown bread are to die for. The breakfasts were the absolute best I had on my trip ~ putting any restaurant to shame. Joan was even kind enough to share her bread recipes, which I have made, on several occasions, since returning home.
The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable and cozy. All the little extra touches in the room (tea, coffee, biscuits, fine toiletries...) make you feel pleasantly pampered.
The day I left it was pouring rain and they insisted on giving me a lift to the bus depot. Where can you find that????
I guess it was a good thing that the Petra House was my last stop before returning to Shannon Airport and departing for home ~ had it been my first, I would have stayed there the entire time!
I look very forward to a return trip to dear Ireland and another lovely stay at the Petra House.
