I never arrive at a place without having accomodation booked, but this time it was a last minute decision, so I decided to see where the road took us!
We arrived in Galway on the Friday evening of a bank holiday weekend. After trying several hotels I thought we would have to sleep in the car and then we found the Park House!!
It wasn't cheap...they only had a junior suite left at 390 euros per night, but we bargained with them and got the weekend for a steal!!!
This also included free parking, and the car parked for us by the staff.
The room was superb, with two kingsize beds, a sofa and a dining area.
The bathroom was luxurious with Molton Brown freebies and lovely white fluffy bathrobes and slippers!
Oh and the free Irish chocolates as well.
The hotel was great, it was clean, luxurious and the staff were wonderful. The breakfasts offered everything you could dream of, really catering well for the american visitors.
It is directly on the side of Eyre square, so you are really in the heart of the city.
we had dinner in the hotel one night....it was amazing, the standard, the value for money and the excellent service!!!
Galway is fantastic, it is full of wonderful pubs and clubs. We loved a bar called "Tosh" which was very different. We took a drive out through Spiddal and up to the coral beach, the views were wonderful. We stopped off for refreshments at the local bars, where we seemed to be the only non-irish speaking clientelle!!
It is very easy to get a quick flight over to Arran from here, it is well worth the journey in the very small plane!
This is a fantastic hotel, we wouldn't consider ever staying anywhere else in Galway!!
