We stayed one night in the Forster Court during our 4 day tour arranged by Railtours Ireland. The hotel is located close to the Galway train station and within walking distance to the dining/shopping area in Galway. The rooms are very nicely done and clean. The bathrooms are large and clean. The front desk staff were very nice. Breakfast was great, made to order and quick. There is a convenience store and Internet cafe next to the hotel. We would highly recommend to anyone staying in Galway.

My husband has to have access to the Internet for business reasons and a very important factor for us when we are choosing hotels is whether or not Broadband is available. During our two weeks in Ireland he had problems connecting at every hotel except the Forster Court. That it was free was even better. I agree with other reviewers that it is a decent hotel with a good location, nice bar, and a hearty breakfast. Staff was not particularly cheerful, but they provided adequate service. The construction across the street started at 8am, but that won't last forever(one hopes!). No hesitation in recommending the hotel to others.

Stayed here for a couple of days / nights on business in mid-July.

The location is excellent - within 5 minutes walking distance of Eyre Square and the Bus / Train station, as well as Galway's many pleasant shops, pubs and eateries.

Rooms are reasonably spacious, neat and tidy. Breakfast is served to order and the bar is also good. Restaurant has a decent menu with good offers.

Staff also came across as helpful and friendly.

It lacks leisure facilities and is firmly three star, but good three star, so I would happily stay here again and recommend it for a business stay or leisure weekend, especially if you can get a good deal.

I stayed at the Forster Court last week with my partner and our daughter. I was concerned about the reviews I had read on Trip Advisor, especially about the noise. But when we arrived we found that our concerns were totally unfounded. The staff were great on arrival, really friendly and helpful. The room was also lovely and spacious with a good view of the citry - we weren't bothered by any noise either. We had booked a non smoking room and I was delighted that there was absolutely no smell of smoke in the room, as can sometimes happen. The food was great , especially the breakfast - compliments to the chef!
All in all, a very pleasant stay... we'll be back!!

My fiance and I had attended a wedding in the Conemara area and then moved to Galway city centre where we would be based for three nights.
The hotel is in a good location, near enough to Quays street and the main shopping and eating area (7 minute walk) but far enough away to escape the noise of the
outdoor-dwelling summer pub-goers! There is a small supermarket across the road, tourism office next door, a car rental place up the road and the city's main park where you can pass the time chilling out with Galway's student population, just a two minute walk away.
We asked to have a room off the main street to avoid any traffic noise - which they gave us. With hindsighht, probably not necessary as the road isn't very busy later at night. The rooms overlooking the road had more light than ours but it was a good sized room with an even better sized bathroom.
The room was clean, the facilities functional, the mattress comfortable. My only real criticism is that the blanket and bedcover were a bit old and not very comforting. A duvet with a duvet cover would have been a great improvement and at least you would know that the sheets had been washed before your arrival - unlike with a blanket.
We found the staff to be helpful and courteous and the breakfast was good. Poached eggs on Irish soda bread became a firm favourite of mine but if you wanted a full Irish breakfast, complete with black pudding, you could order that too!
If we return to Galway, which we hope to do some day, we would stay at Forster Court again. The higlight of our trip was cycling around Ines Mor - one of the Arran Islands - pick a nice day and enjoy the amazing scenery!
