This hotel has a great location less than 5 minutes walk from Eyre Square and the shopping streets, but on a quiet block with a parking garage behind it. The rooms are good sized and the hotel appears fairly recently remodeled. We had a great shower in a big tub - in fact the whole bathroom was quite large. Tara at the front desk was VERY helpful with recommendations and directions.

For the price we paid, we received a great value. I would recommend this hotel quite highly for folks seeking a very nice, but not fancy, hotel in a great location at a competitive price.

  • Liked — The location, staff and overall value.
  • Disliked — The breakfast was only average.

We stayed at the Forster Court on for 2 nights and I must say I was really impressed. It is centrally located, close to all shopping areas and restaurants. The staff throughout the hotel were excellent and genuinely friendly.

Our rooms were very comfortable and spotless. We did not have a meal in Elwoods restaurant but we did have bar food the second night it was a little pricy but after eating it we agreed it was worth it.
I will stay again on my return to Galway either for business or pleasure and will have no hesitation recommending it.

The Forster is centrally located and the staff was friendly. The room was large and clean, with a spacious bathroom and great shower. Breakfast was plentiful, including both a continental buffet and hot items cooked to order.

On the minus side, the corridors and rooms are dark, and the corridors and staircases smell of smoke, even on non-smoking floors. Our room was in the front of the buiding, and we were woken every night (weeknights) by the sound of bar patrons fighting in the streets. There is no luggage room, so we paid 5 Euros per item to leave our bags at a taxi office down the street. The worst part of our stay was our meal in Morgans Bar - among the worst meals I have ever paid for. The waiter was too busy flirting with teenaged girls to inquire if we needed anything or how the food was, and he barely raised an eyebrow when he cleared the table and both plates were barely touched.

Centrally located, definetly. Comfortable rooms, not really. We hadn't planned on spending much time in the room so we agreed as a group the increased cost would probably not be worth it to stay at a grander hotel. I'm sorry we didn't. Our room 101 was above the street were touring buses sat and idled while waiting for passengers. The room need new mattresses, a new TV remote, and alot of Febreeze (air santitizer). The breakfast the next morning was not great. The oatmeal I ordered was about as heavy as led. The price was fine. But waking up to a fight in the alley adjacent to room was a drag. If I wanted to go and make a lot of noise at a hotel this one would probably be a good pick.

I read numerous reviews about B&Bs and hotels in Galway and also booked numerous hotels but finally decided on Foster Court and was thrilled. I booked through an agent website and got a cheaper rate so it turned out to be good value. The twin room had a double and single bed and was a good size. The shower was powerful and clean. The breakfast was filling and a wide choice of pastries, fruit, yogurt, cereal and a cooked breakfast. A great way to start the day. There is no parking at the hotel but guests get a 50% discount at the car park located directly behind the hotel. It cost us 6 euro for 15 hours, just remember to get reception to stamp your ticket. All in all I was impressed and enjoyed my stay at Foster Court but think it would have been a bit expensive if I had have booked directly with the hotel so shop around.
