I stayed at the Travel Lodge for 5 nights. The room was tiday, and basic with no frills. Great for the traveller that doesn't spend much time in the room. The Hotel staff were helpful and friendly. The location is out of town but I enjoyed the walk each day - approx 15 minute's.
First impression was not good - the reception area floor was sticky. It got no better - one of our party gets acid reflux and wanted some extra pillows - the girl at reception just said "no". Don't know if that was the limit of her English but that was it - just "no".
A cigarrette butt lay on the stairs during our visit.
Won't stay there again. There's better value to be had!
Stayed here overnight when attending a conference. The conference was in the SAS Radisson, but I was too slow to book a room there! That weekend the 2 hotels cost the same, but the difference was staggering. Well outside town, the map on the website was pretty misleading, guy at check-in none too approachable, room reasonably clean but not fantastically so, WiFi not free and couldn't buy tokens in reception, no shampoo/soap/shower gel. Sound proofing poor so woken once or twice by the small numbers of people going past outside - a large number of drunks would have been a nightmare.
I stayed there for one night with my wife and two childern. We had one room which had a double bed and a couch that opened could sleep two.
The hotel was basic. No frills whatsoever. It did have a lift however. The room was clean. The staff were friendly.
The breakfast had to be paid for in advance, and a coupon presented to the breakfast room staff. It was relatively simple. Mind you there were no glasses for the orange juice, only plastic cups.
If you don't want to hang around the hotel, and just sleep, it is an okay choice. It is a probably 0.5 miles from the city center. Too far to walk for some. Buses are an option.
It was somewhat expensive at €99 per night per room. However, Galway seems to be an expensive place to stay.
