Stayed at days for 3 nights at the end of Aug...Excellent !
We are in the hospitality biz ourselves & I have to say that if there had been any issues the staff more than made up for it. They got the age old formula spot on...keep the kids happy & the parents will be happy! We booked directly with hotel as website dosn't allow for connectiong room reservation. Three nights, 2 x rooms interconnecting 3xB&B + 2xDinner all for just €650...great value to include kids club each day (normally a daily suppliment of €30) & kids get to eat as a group between 5 + 6pm supervised. the only flaw was that the kids club was for 3+ leaving our youngest out of the picture & the club only runs during summer & school holidays for obvous reasons. Pool area was fab, seperate kids pool & main pool divided into swimming lanes & general area which is quite shallow (approx 3 feet) so kids can stand with 2 corners with bubble features, hey for families its a great pool! Seperate health suite corner for adults only.
Rooms we stayed in are new & I believe the previous rooms (during its time as the galway ryan) are refurbed also with new serviced apartment options I think. Food is at a level i would describe as quite good for hotel grub. Location is just a stones throw from city, or a quick drive or on bus route. If all else fails there is a cinema within walking distance (4-500mtrs) beside a toy dept store if you dare & eddie rockets burger joint. But if you do go anywhere near galway with kids visit turore (or something like that spelling) animal farm near Loughrea (30 min drive)...a few petting animals but fantastic play facilities inside & out for the kids, check it out. Bottom line...would we go back? Definitely!

Myself and my husband went to Connemara to attend a friend's wedding and decided to put up a night in Days hotel. We had been staying in different Days hotels before this and where ever we visit, we will try to stay in Days hotel.

As usual, we booked through the internet for Days hotel in Galway for a night. When we were there (08/09/07) @ 11.30 pm in the hotel, i handed my booking reference letter to the receptionist at the front desk and took him sometime to check on the screen till i asked him was everything okay?

He said he could not see my booking on the screen even i had my booking reference letter, but in order not to let us waited any longer, he gave us a room key in Block D.

When we were in the room, we noticed that there were no water, the water were only dripping from the tap. We could have spent the whole day to finish a quick shower. We called the reception desk and a gentleman was up in less than 5 minutes to fix it for us.

The next day which was the Sat morning, we decided to extend another night and went to the hotel front desk to check was there any availability. We were told the room would cost € 138 for the extended night, and we agreed. At the same time, i asked did they sorted the booking reference letter that i had last night? She was not sure and would come back to us after we had the breakfast in the hotel.

Just as we finished our breakfast to walk over the reception desk, the same girl whom i spoke at the reception desk came to us and ask me to explain myself further at the front desk. A few girls and the Revenue Manager were there at the counter. The Revenue Manager said she could not find my booking reference letter!! I gave her my room no. she went through the filing cabinet still could not find my booking reference letter. I told myself, don't tell me you guys even lost my booking reference letter, and no records on your screen.

Thankfully, a girl gave a helping hand and she found it. Now the next thing is, this revenue manager wanted to offer me € 158 for the extended night.. WHAT?? price variations? I really NOT happy at all..But then, she said since someone said it was € 138, she would offer me € 138 for what I was been told.

I clamed down myself as we were in a hurry to start our journey to Renvyle to attend the wedding. The fun parts did not ended here. After the wedding, we drove back to the hotel was about 12 am, the moment we opened the room door, the room was left as it was, no cleaner came to tidy the room. We tried to take a shower and AGAIN..... NO WATER!!

I really could not stand this kind of services, and rang straight to the receptionist and told him what happen.. Guess what was the response i had?

* HAVE YOU NOT BEEN TOLD NO ONE WILL TIDY UP YOUR ROOM ON THE WEEKEND?"

He said he could send someone to fix the water problem and the most could be done was gave us some fresh new towels, and it would take 15-20 minutes.

However, thanks to the same Gentleman, he fixed the water problem and came with clean towels in less than 10 minutes.

Another point to note is, if you are staying in this hotel, provide yourself with a paper bag for rubbish as it has just has ONLY one smallest bin in the washroom.

The next day, I was afraid i could not hold my temper any longer if they asked did we enjoy our stayed when we checked out, so i just asked my husband to do so, and i waited for him in the car.

We recently spent 2 nights at the Days Hotel in Galway. The hotel is about 20-25 minutes walk from the centre of town. It has a very good swimming pool but this is about the only positive thing that I can say about this hotel. The hotel is large (about 300 rooms) and will take anyone in order to fill it. They do not have a defined target market. There were touring parties from Europe and plenty of families. Unfortunately, there were stag/hen parties plus I think they get alot of business from the local rugby club. Over our 2 nights at the Days, we probably had no more than 4 hours sleep in total. Drunks were walking up and down the corridor all night until round about 06.00 am and constantly disturbed my entire family. The hotel appeared unable to do anything about our predicament but did offer a 30% discount when we checked out. We paid around Euro 170 per night so this was not cheap for a Days. The hotel had been updated recently so the rooms were not too bad although it was obvious the hotel had been built some time ago. The bar area was very large and there appeared to be lot's of families with prams at the bar late into the evening. The breakfast was poor. There was a kids club which had various activities and movies throughout the day. We would not return ... ever!

This is a great hotel, very clean and the service is great. There was a bit of confusion when we checked in but this was sorted within half an hour. The hotel was very busy when we stayed but this did not detract from the service we received.
The restaurant serves quality food and is reasonable. I would recommend this hotel and if I return to the area would definetly stay here again.

The hotel was booked as part of our corporate agreements with our local subsidiary in the area. The website looked quite nice as well. Our company had placed a number of company visitors without incidents...until we arrived. We were supposed to get a suite with a refrigerator and microwave because we were staying two weeks. The suite was supposed to be near the front of the hotel. When we arrived, they had changed the reservation and put us into a single room in the "D" block suite area that was in the back of the hotel and recently refurbished. When I saw the room, I immediately went back to the front (long walk) and tried to get the correct room. Their reservation system showed a suite without a sitting room (which contains the fridge and microwave). At the time, the hotel had also booked 7 tour buses and the South African Springboxer rugby team and so the entire hotel had been sold out for two nights. The assistant manager explained that there was nothing they could do until Monday and so he would try to make our stay comfortable.

Then, the front desk swore that there was a door to open to get to the sitting area, which was also proven false by their own housekeeping staff.

Between the time we arrived (5 PM) and the time I went to bed (11 PM), the following occurred:
- 10 long walks to the front desk to complain about issues
- The phones in my room and my coworker's room did not work.
- The manager brought up a small refrigerator that spoiled the milk and orange juice for the next two days (they kept replacing the milk) because it would not stay cold on any setting.
- The toilet did not work and so they had to move me to another room.
- Because I went and got cereal to eat when they promised a fridge, I did not have bowls or spoons to eat it with.
- There was no hot water to take a shower
- The rooms in these sets of suites don't get cleaned but once per week. (I put a once per day mandate on staying in this room and then had to remind them to change the cleaning to the new room.)
- The new room did not have garbage cans but the phone worked.

The assistant manager tried to appease me by bringing a bottle of wine up. Luckily, glasses and a corkscrew came with it.

And, to top it off, my coworker woke up on Monday morning to no water and so he had to shower in another room.

When arriving in the office on that Monday, we found out that we were supposed to get the suites that the Rugby team got up near the front of the hotel. We subsequently moved the the Marriott, which was much nicer and everything in the room worked.

The Manager, when she arrived on Monday morning, tried all she could to convince us to stay, citing every excuse such as the room in "D" were recently remodeled, if she would have been here, it would have been taken care of over the weekend, etc. I countered with "these rooms should have been gone over with a fine tooth comb before releasing them to the public. To have them in this condition when renting to the public is horrible."

Although the condition of the hotel was horrible, the staff had tried all they could to satisfy us. But, no matter how nice the staff is, hotel quality also plays a part.

They gave us all our money back, ate the laundry charges, and even brought the clean laundry to the Marriott so we would not have to go back there. They were also trying to save the relationship with the local company.

I travel often and the worst hotel I have stayed at was imploded last year. This was the second worst.
