I traveled with a large (39 people) group through Ireland and we stayed at the Days Hotel, Galway, April 11 & 12, 2007. It was an uneventful stay.
The hotel, itself, is nice enough. The non-smoking rooms were non-smoking. They were clean and quiet. The beds were softer than most I've slept on in Ireland.
The pool was gorgeous, but because of the cryptosporidium outbreak in Galway at the time, we declined to use the pool, although we were assured it was safe. We are from Milwaukee (which also had a crypto outbreak many years ago) and didn't want to risk infection.
The hotel was offering pitchers of clean water to any guest who came to the bar to get it which was quite nice.
The hotel also offered a kids room where young people could hang out and play bumper pool and air hockey and fooseball without their parents hanging over them which was very nice.
The hotel is not central to Galway, but is on a main bus route. We took a cab from the main square in Galway to our hotel for about 7.5 Euros one day.
All in all, the Days Hotel is a clean, comfortable, quiet place to lay your head for a few days in Galway.
