we stayed here because we had a christmas party to attend on the saturday night. We stayed in room 4088, in block A. Room was lovely, we booked a double and got a single and double bed.. Tv was grand, had internet, movies, games, music, radio etc on it.. Tea making was great, iron and ironing board, Hair dryer, all good.. the bathroom was fine, although shower was a bit poor, on the water pressure side.. We got food delivered to the room, not the best Ive ever had, but what can ya do.. The only problem was, that check out is twelve, which we can deal with, but a cleaner came INTO our room at ten thirty, which i was not impressed with at all.. didnt knock or anything.. so be sure to bolt your door at night.. But apart from that everything was fine

  • Liked — The rooms are lovely
  • Disliked — The cleaners dont knock!!
  • Tips/Secrets: — Bolt your door at night

We stayed at this hotel for two nights in August 2006. It was a nice 10-15 minute walk into the town of Galway (fun shops!), worked out fine for us. It was also a good base for us (we had a rental car) to go out and see the Cliffs of Moher and the other sights (Yeats tower, Coole Park, Connemara).

For me, the biggest amenity the Days Hotel offered was the free high-speed Internet in the room. Also, their pool was amazing. A true work of art. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom very nice. The room was quiet, even though they were building another wing onto the hotel, we heard no noise at all. Nothing from the above floors, either.

The staff was courteous and helpful. When we pulled into the parking lot, there were two tour buses full of people who were unloading. By the time we parked and got our suitcases unloaded and into the lobby (10 minutes, maybe), the lobby was completely empty. I don't know where all those people went, but I was impressed!

Overall a very poor experience. As others have mentioned food in the bar stops at 8pm. I arrived a 8:40 pm and after quite a long journey was famished.

I repeatedly rang for room service and after several attempts finally managed to reach someone only to be greeted by a disinterested receptionist who said I *might* be able to get some cooked food. After a prolonged wait it finally arrived without cutlery unfortunately and I ate with my hands since the waiter had left.

The rooms were very warm and as another poster mentioned there really wasn't many facilities for cooling them down. I was booked for three nights Bed and Breakfast and after attending one inhospitable breakfast I wouldn't do so again. The dining room was full and I had to carry my own breakfast out to the bar to eat it, hospitality or what?

I found the majority of the staff to be unfriendly and the layout of the hotel left alot to be desired, it was quite a walk to my room, understandable since the hotel had a very patchwork feel to it, it was previously extended and you could see where.

I would definitely not recommend this hotel, it is certainly not worthy of its 3 star status.

We stayed here as part of a tour group. Having been to Ireland before, and understanding how a 2 star hotel in the States can equal a 5 star abroad, I was plesantly surprised by these accomodations. We had a room in the back of the hotel, overlooking a soccer field. Our room was updated (with a contemporary feel) clean, and comfortable. We even had a small veranda. I read a few reviews which said people had difficulty opening windows in their room. With a veranda, all we needed to do was crack the door for a little circulation -- it was perfect. The bathroom was a decent size and very modern with granite countertops. The staff was very pleasant and accomodating. Our package included breakfast, which I would rate as fair; great if you love a traditional Irish breakfast. (Tip: although scrambled eggs were never on the buffet, my husband asked for a plate and they were happy to oblige. )
We didn't eat dinner in the restaurant, but we did socialize in the large bar. As for as proximity to downtown Galway, it's an easy 25 minute walk. We would definitely stay here again.

We (my husband, 2 year old son and I) spent 3 days in this hotel. I would definitely recommend it and stay there again. Although initially I thought our family room was a bit small - it was fine as we were only in morning and night. The hotel is v child friendly and although their kiddies club was closed as the season was over, they gave us the key and we were able to take our wee guy in there every night to play with the toys as a special treat before bedtime. The buffet breakfast was delicious with loads of choices. We had 1 evening meal there and again, great choice and tasty food and friendly service. We were also blessed with good weather so we were able to get out and about all day, which was great.
