We stayed at the Days Hotel, Galway from Sept 20-26 and had a wonderful time. The hotel is about two miles outside the city centre (seven Euros for taxi ride into city) but is very good. This would be a four star hotel in the UK. Our room had a large double and large single bed, very nicely furnished with tea and coffee facilities, hairdryer and a bathroom with a bath. There is free wi-fi for laptops in the lobby which worked well and you could also get it free in the room (10 Euro deposit for cable) although the cable didn't fit my mini computer. Internet was also available through the bedroom TV although you had to pay for that. Breakfast was not particularly good, food had been left standing for too long, but I asked for scrambled eggs and the staff willingly cooked me some. We ate in the bar two evenings and the helpings were huge and freshly cooked. Around 13 Euros per bar meal. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel seems to be well used for corporate meetings. The hotel is well placed for the fabulous Connemara countryside and we spent a lot of time along the coast road to Clifden and also visiting places like Westport and the Burren. We found it easier to take a taxi into Galway in the evening as it is quite congested however there are lots of car parks. The only down side was that we were woken up three times one night by drunken guests shrieking and running down the corridor. When we complained on checking out there was an apology but the way the staff looked at each other made me think this was not an isolated problem. However, it didn't spoil our trip and we will definitely be using this hotel again.
