The imperial hotel is situated right in the centre of Galway City, only a moment walk from the train station. The location of this place is perfect for a traveller wishing to explore Galway City and surrounds.
BUT WE WERE NOT HAPPY ...
Quite simply we found this place bad value for money.
Although the rooms were quite spacious and nicely decorated, the window views are poor to limited.
The common theme is a meandering maze of halls, corridors and poor sign-posting.
Breakfast consisted of a VERY simple continental breakfast.
A poor variety of foods available for the ammount tenderd for the room.
Room cleaning appears to start from early in the morning. Twice we were visited at 10am by cleaning staff who entered our room without knocking, even though we were still in bed!
On our second evening we noticed that there was no hot water in our bathroom but did not think too much of it at the time as we were going out to explore the city.
The following morning again there was no hot water available to us.
At this stage we decided to check out of the hotel,we did not create a fuss thinking this was an energy saving procedure by the hotel.
On departure we pointed this out to the manager in the reception area,he disappeared to arrive back minutes later to tell us there was piping hot water in our taps and also tell us that there were no complaints from the residents in the rooms next door.
Apart from the fact that the room next door was vacant,we felt we were made out to be liars by the management of this establishment.
On the plus side the bar/food and reception staff were found to be very plesant an efficient in ther duties.
Overall we had a bad experience in this hotel and would not consider it again in the future.
