My husband and I recently spent a night at St. Judes. We had booked ahead, and confirmed the room. When we arrived, the door was opened by an unsmiling woman, who barely said hello. Ita then proceeded to go into another room, closing the door, and leaving us standing in the entryway. After a couple of minutes, she returned and led us to the room (clean, nicely decorated, small). We were advised of the location of pubs and the promenade (a pleasant walk). We were not told of any guest lounge or garden area, or made to feel welcome in any way. No offer of tea or coffee.
Breakfast the next morning was well-made, however, the unfriendly and seemingly bored Sinead made us feel anxious to finish our breakfast quickly, and leave.
We visited many B and B's during our 2 weeks in Ireland. St. Jude's was not a warm and inviting place and is the only one we would not recommend.

Galway was the first stop on our driving tour of Ireland.

Ita graciously allowed us to check-in early and we passed out in our room. All the rooms are lovely from the dining room to the bathroom. Really elegantly done. Breakfast was lovely and cooked to order by Sinead. There are lots of options if you're not into the Irish breakfast.

Even in light rain, walking to town is quite easy. Leave your car at the B&B.

I highly recommend St. Judes B&B in Galway (Salthill). A period house with nicely furnished rooms. Just the right size. Staff was very attentive. Breakfast was cooked to order and there was plenty of it. Get the picnic lunch, a great bargain compared with restaurant food. About a 15 minute walk to the river, 20 minutes to Eyre Square. Nice off the street parking. Bus into town is 1.6 Euro. We found shopping in Galway to be cheaper and less stressful than Dublin. I would definitely stay again and will recommend to friends and family.

Just back from a short trip to Galway with 2 friends. We stayed in St Judes in a Family Room, perfect for the 3 of us.
Really Clean, friendly and excellent breakfast.
I would be delighted to recommend it to a friend.

Have just got back from a five night stay at St Judes. Mrs Johnstone and her family looked after me wonderfully during my stay. My room, which overlooked the rear garden, was a lovely size and well appointed. Unlike a lot of hotels/B&Bs I've been to the shower was really very good. I didn't have an evening meal but a couple of ladies at breakfast yesterday were extolling the virtues of the meal they'd had the night before.

I'd certainly recommend St Judes to anyone looking for a base in Galway.

As I plan to do the Connemarathon again I'll definitely be back!!
