We visit a couple of times every year and we love it. When you park near the sea you will have a great view of galway bay. The owners are friendly people and try their best to help you enjoy your stay.

After reading very bad previous reviews I simply had to go and take a look for myself. Myself, the hubbie and the three kids packed up the tent and headed off to Galway for the weekend about three weeks ago .To our surprise we found the site to be nothing like what was described - It was very well kept, facilities were very clean, we were only charged 40 euros for the two nights. We certainly will go back during the summer and would recommend it . I just got back yesterday, and I won't be back there again. A group of us went - it cost e88 for 4 small tents. We got the most unfriendly reception from a middle aged woman. She took our money and offered no welcome - just a stern warning to keep noise to a minimum. She didn't offer any advice and getting information about the facilities was like pulling teeth. The campsite area had no shelter, and was situated right beside a putrid smelling bog area. We were then hassled by an old man on a bike who worked there for making what he called 'noise' at 5.45pm. We apologised but he refused to accept our apology and told us to shut up when we said we were sorry! Afraid to make a peep, we tiptoed back to our tents that night, only to be kept awake by rowdy fellow campers until 5am - the younger night watch man was friendly at least - but was obvioulsy too tolerant of noise. The toilets and showers were okay (the only reason I havn't given it a rating of one) - the games room is falling down, the children's 'playground' consists of one slide and all they sell are soft drinks and milk in their reception shop. We'll not be back.....
Will have to try bayview, as salthill caravan park is realy bad its only a one star if lucky. There is no kids play area, The games room is falling down there are electric wires running over the grass, rat posion all over the place and the toilets run into the sea. DON,T SWIM NEAR HERE, their mobiles are filthy and when anyone complains they tell them to f... off.The night watch man is an old guy with a stick, sometimes a younger guy with a limp does the job real sad place.THE OWNERS OF SALTHILL CARAVAN PARK ARE CALLED O"MALLY /Will have to make sure the O'mally"S don,t own Bayview also/. I can only hope other people own Bayview and we can all look forward to a good holiday. Good luck from Tommy Murphy.
