Just got back from two nights in this sub-standard hostel. The staff are unhelpful and most would consider them rude (apart from 1 girl on the Sunday morning), the beds had some very interesting stains and the shower, we'll lets just say the shower was an experience never to be repeated. On the plus side the night porter that let us in around 3.30am was extremely pleasant and chatty. Check-out time was a very early 10.30am, at 10.45am the male receptionist came knocking on our door demanding that we leave. At this stage we were all fully dressed with our bags packed and anxious to get out of there anyway. We needed no further encouragement.
When we booked this place I thought to myself €22 per night who cares what it's like. Take it from me when you do the maths you realise you're being robbed blind. We had a four bedded dorm, that's 4 x €22 = €88 per night. Jurys Inn next door is €78 for a suite that can accomodate 4 adults.
Don't get me wrong the location is great but Jury's is 4 doors down the street and also the nearest available parking.
Galway city was gave me two nights out that I will never forget, Barnacles I will remember for all the wrong reasons.
