This is a clean and well situated hostel with lots of info, a helpful front desk and nice lounge with internet access. They changed us to a "bigger" twin room which had bunk beds and I can't imagine what the smaller one was like because this one wasn't so big but otherwise this is a really nice place to stay.

It's located right near some of the best pubs and restaurants. We payed about 40 euros pp for a twin with bathroom. Comparable to Dublin but actually a much nicer hostel than the one we stayed in there.

I arrived in Barnacles with just 1 night booked. 4 days later I had to leave because they were full, and I can't wait to go back. The place is so central, the staff have free passes for all the local shows, I got to see the city like I lived there. I am a female travelling alone and felt so at ease and at home here. Ask for a female only room, but everyone here was great.

I stayed here for 3 nights in November 05. I cant say enough for the staff and guests. I had a great time, met the most lovely people. Just brilliant, great facilities, really clean and secure.

I stayed at Barnacles in September 2004, in a 12 bed mixed dorm room.

Barnacles has the best location. It is right on the main pedestrian street, but also incredibly quiet! The breakfast and kitchen facilities were good and the vibe was really relaxed and friendly. The showers were hot and strong and the bathrooms were private. Definitely recommended.

The only problem I had was with a load of washing. It took a full 24 hours longer than we were told it would, due to washing machines and dryers breaking down. Although we were sympathetic, the staff were not at all reassuring and just kept saying 'Come back in 2 hours'. They told us that about 6 times and we were starting to think it was never going to be ready! But that is really the only complaint I have.
