Stayed here for 5 nights in a double ensuite room. first night stayed in one of the apartments around the corner from the hostel which was bigger and would recommend this if available to you. Also it was quieter than staying in the hostel building. Overall, the 5 day stay (during bank holiday weekend) was fairly quiet in terms of noise from other guests, although I was on the top floor and has less rooms on it . The staff are friendly and informative. Recommend booking the Galway Tour Company direct from the hostel (10% discount) to spend the day touring the Cliffs of Mohar or Connemarra - although check the weather forcast the day before as can be unpredictable as always in Ireland. I did the 1 hour bus tour guide around the city which I recommend too and only 10euros, this will give you a good feel of the city.
Free internet available, no breakfast but did not expect it but you can buy your own food and prepare food in the kitchen area.
The hostel is only 5 min walk from the main square, coach station and Quay st where all the pubs are.
You must go to a pub called Monroes which is across the Wolfe Tone bridge down by the Spanish Arch. They have the best pizza I have tasted in a long time. They do great music sessions too each night. For a traditional old irish pub feel/decor you should go to Tigh Neachtain’s which is on Quay street. Another one is called Tig Cóilí which is on the same road.
