I booked this on recommendations from this site. Overall, it was great. Berna was extremely friendly and helpful; she gave us a lot of tips and suggestions on our itenerary for our time in Galway. She can sell tickets for excursions to the Aran Islands through the locally run ferry company, but unfortunately we were not able to go because of the weather. Breakfasts were fantastic, and she willingly altered her menus for us both mornings when we wanted something different. She had the best ruhbarb yogurt... The only thing I would change is the location. It is a good 10-15 minute walk to the city. Not terrible, but definately a hike, especially when returning late night from the pub. I wouldn't consider it a deal breaker, but it is certainly worth noting.

We stayed at Devondell a few nights ago and can only say how wonderful it was. Berna is one of the best hostesses ever and welcomed us with a pot of tea and platter of goodies, all taken in the comfort of the guest lounge. The location is convenient but quiet, the rooms are pretty and spotlessly clean, also well provisioned with personal care products. Breakfast has to be the best anywhere, served in style and including so many wonderful home-cooked treats. I can highly recommend not only Devondell and Berna's bubbly hospitality, but also her scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, delicious (and did I mention freshly-squeezed juice and home-made jams?).

Our final nights in Ireland were spent with Berna at her delightful, cozy home, Devondell. Situated just a short distance from the heart of Galway in the Salthill area it is a real gem! Berna was so helpful, going way out of her way to make sure that my Mom and I were able to enjoy ourselves. She drove us to and from dinner just so that I wouldn't have to deal with parking issues/ lack of handicap parking. She makes the most beautiful breakfast spread I have eaten anywhere. Her attention to detail is evident with her lace tablecloths, polished silver and beautifully prepared dishes. I took photos of the food! Our goal was to experience the Irish people and their hospitality. Berna is an example of the best of both! I can't wait to take my husband back so that he can enjoy the comforts of Devondell.

The best thing about the Devondell is the hospitality, graciousness, and friendly nature of its proprietor, Berna. She immediately makes you feel right at home in her quaint, comfortable, cozy, and very clean B & B.

One of the highlights of your stay at the Devondell will most certainly be Berna's breakfasts! They are delicious and the presentation absolutely exquisite. You will have your choice of things including finely made eggs, pancakes, and waffles not to mention daily muffins, scones, homemade muesli, baked banana, yogurt, and fruits all nicely laid out for you to enjoy. Breakfast is enjoyed in a room that overlooks the garden and yard.

If you're traveling to Galway, you should definitely stay at the Devondell. It is conveniently located within walking distance of the center of town and all the restaurants and bars, but far enough away to be quiet and very relaxing.
