This is the best bed and breakfast that I have ever stayed in. Berna, the owner and manager of the property, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome in her home. The rooms are nicely decorated and very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was great. Everyone morning there was a large selection of items for self service along with items that you could order from a menu. All items where homemade and of excellent quality (not the kind of stuff we eat at our house!). Berna is also very knowledgeable on the Galway area and gave us recommendations on restaurants etc. The property is within walking distance from downtown Galway. We can't wait to visit again!

We loved our stay at Devondell. Berna is a lovely woman. We felt very
welcome and comfortable in her home. It is in a great location because it's in a neighbourhood so it's quiet but still within just 15 minutes walking distance to town. Our bedroom was lovely with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was great too. Everything was very clean. Berna always had time for us. She gave us great information. And her cooking was wonderful. Breakfasts were yummy - we tried her fabulous waffles and the eggs with salmon. We wish that all places could be as nice as this. Thanks Berna for a wonderful stay. This b&b was absolutely lovely. Berna is an absolute sweetheart who will go to any lengths to make her guests feel comfortable, and she is a phenomenal cook. I am still dreaming about her breakfasts - choice of cashel blue pancakes, eggs, goat cheese dishes - and all in addition to the delicious buffet spread of fruits, yogurts, homemade muesli, fresh raspberry muffins (to die for!), scones....heavenly!

I stayed there for four nights, between August 14 to August 18th. One night is not nearly enough time there, so I recommend more than one night so that you can try out all the breakfast choices on the menu! My room, the lovely Periwinkle Room (for a single), was perfect - beautiful white irish lace coverings on a pretty bed that was covered with a cheerful quilt, lovely blue and white colors throughout....great shower - hot water and good water pressure. Impeccably clean house throughout.

I highly, HIGHLY recommend this place and cannot wait to return. Berna is so kind and helpful and is lovely to chat with. Plus, there is an extremely convenient shuttle bus that can pick you up at the end of her drive that will take you to a day tour of Connemara and/or The Burren/Cliffs of Moher. Devondell is a short walk to the main town of Galway - about 10 minutes - and Salthill is very pretty and easy to find. Cannot rave enough about Devondell! :) (And cannot wait to return!)

My family absolutely loved this B&B when we visited. Of the four lodgings at which we stayed on our trip, this was hands down the best on the island. The hostess is charming, loves her hometown of Galway, and is ready to bend over backwards to ensure that you enjoy your stay. The bedrooms were large and comfortable, even offering shelves of books to read before bed. While Galway was not our favorite town in Ireland, we would easily consider returning just to stay at Devondell.
