We stayed in the Radisson last weekend and had a fantastic time. The hotel staff were fantastic and ever so helpful if anything was needed.

The buffet breakfast was one of the best I have experienced, when we arrived down at 10 am it was still being restocked for guests unlike a lot of other hotels.

The Spa One centre is AMAZING... well worth the trip alone, the thermal suite was one of the highlights of the stay.

All in all a great weekend was had by all...

my boyfriend booked a mid week stay in this hotel, it was all a surprise as he had planned to propose to me. Arrived at the hotel and proceeded to book in, our room wasnt quite ready so we'd to wait a while, which was fine. Arrived to the room and it was tiny with two twin beds, we had booked a double room, went to reception to request a room change, but they wouldnt give us another room, so after much arguing with a very unpleasent receptionst we said we were leaving, then they turned around and said they'd upgrade us, but it was too late we were both that upset and fed up,(my boyfriend moreso as he had arranged it all) we left and booked in to Day's hotel. For the price of this hotel alot better service was expected. The hotel said they'd send something to Day's hotel to compensate us...We're still waiting!!!!!

The Fairgreen was a great spot to relax and explore Galway! A big, beautiful, and clean room. Excellent location. Good price including breakfast, and even with parking in the garage thrown in. Nice staff--front desk and restaurant included.

We stayed two nights and everything was nearly perfect. The layout of the room was very nice. Breakfast was very good, with several options to choose from. The location is just around the corner from the tourist info and Eyre Square, yet secluded enough to stay quiet unlike the hotels on Quay Street. Stay here instead!

Loved having the "mini" bar at the front desk so we could take a pint up to the room--who goes to Ireland for a hotel bar? Go to a pub!

Only two little negatives: the cable on the TV did not stay in the TV or wall very well (but we don't watch TV much, so no problem), and the toilet was sideways--not 90 degrees of course, maybe only 15 degrees off, but enough to notice. I don't think that can easily be fixed though as it was installed wrong. Otherwise the bathroom and bedroom were both very big, clean, and nicely made up.

Galway still has this water problem, so avoid using the tap! The hotel gave us 3 bottles of water per day, though, and we bought a bigger bottle of sparkling water at the convenience shop around the corner past the tourist info.

  • Liked — Almost everything
  • Disliked — Tilted toilet and loose TV cable

My husband and I stayed at this Radisson, Galway, Ireland for two nights April 2 & 3, 2007. Unfortunately the water supply in Galway is contaminated ("crypto" per a Health Dept. notice) with a parasite and we were advised NOT to drink the water. Per the newspapers, they expect this situation to continue to Sept. at least. The hotel provided us 250 ml (8 oz) per person per day and if we needed more drinking water or water to brush our teeth, we were advised to buy it. I complained to the management about this and also wrote an email when I returned home. Radisson has a written satisfaction guarantee and since I was very dissatisfied, I asked for a certificate for 2 free nights at a Radisson at some future time. They declined my request stating they weren't at fault for the Galway water supply and they provided water for the guests at their own expense. Yes...all 8 oz. per person per day. My contention is that they were responsible to provide an adequate amount of safe drinking water and ice for the guests, certainly much more than 8 oz.!. Whoever heard of having to BUY drinking water at any budget hotel, much less a Radisson?? We also ate at the hotel (we were part of a tour group). The food was very good, the service very poor. Additionally, as we sat in the lobby, suddenly a light fixture fell from the very high ceiling. Happily, it didn't lhit anyone, but it added to the sense of peril . All in all, I'd strongly advise avoiding the Radisson Galway altogether. Clearly, they won't live up to their written guarantee and don't care about guest comfort or satisfaction. They have stated they now have their own filtration system, so perhaps a guest can now have unlimited water to drink. Wow!! But the unfortunate guests that were there on 4/2 and 4/3/07 weren't treated to that luxury. The tour company has compensated me to a degree for this disaster along with some other problems, but I still believe Radisson should go out of their way to repair the damage that was done to their reputation by this outlandish situation. What good is a written guarantee that they won't support? My advice: Avoid Radisson/Galway like the plague!

  • Liked — Not much; the water situation ruined the entire stay
  • Disliked — The no drinking water situation and the advice to buy whatever water I needed beyond the 8 oz. per day provided
