We stayed here for one night on a trip to Galway & Clare. Staff extremely friendly and helpful, free parking and perfect location. Our room was spotlessly clean with two large windows & a view over the lough. The hotel is within 5 minutes walk of Eyre Square but the highlight for us was the foyer bar on the saturday evening - we came back from dinner in town (try McSwiggans or Lemongrass) to find an excellent pianist playing and despite some of the earlier reviews we found there to be lots of very efficient staff serving the tables.
Breakfast was delicious and checkout very straightforward in fact i cannot say a bad word about our stay and we shall definitely be back but next time for the entire weekend!!!

We stayed here recently for a few days whilst passing through Galway. We found the hotel to be comfortable and clean. The lobby is a bit souless and modern by day, but at night it is cosy and bustling.

The Spa attached to the hotel is excellent and our son loved the pool. The rooms are spotlessly clean and modern. The beds are a little hard, but some people like that, so it's hardly a negative.

The breakfasts are excellent. The hotel is very central to Galway city centre so our car stayed in the free carpark and we walked everywhere.

The only complaint I would have is that on one of the nights we decided to have dinner in the hotel's Marina Restaurant. The service was very slow and the food wasn't great. We didn't eat there again.

If cleanliness and location are important to you then you could do worse than this hotel. I would certainly consider going back.

Lovely hotel - shame about the building work across the street!

Stayed in this lovely hotel August bank holiday week-end. Definately the nicest Radisson I have been in. However, the building work just across the street was unsightly and very noisy - builders were on site both Saturday and Sunday. Loved the pool area with outside spa, also the lovely balcony with views across the bay. Breakfast was also great with an excellent wide-ranging buffet. Entertainment was provided in the lounge on Saturday night and was excellent.

On the down side, we had one evening meal in the restaurant and were a little disappointed with both the choice and quality. I would return to this hotel again but only on a bed and breakfast basis - there are many excellent restaurants in Galway.

I stayed here during the third week of July 2005. It's a lovely hotel, in a great location, and I'd heard wonderful things. My stay was pleasant, but a little disappointing in places and it could so easily have been almost perfect.

The hotel needs to buck up a little and focus on some smoothing off of some rough quality issues.

Example: upon arrival the first room I was offered was shoddy and there numerous stains and marks on the carpet. In short it was dirty and tired. I don't expect to see this kind of room in such a first class hotel and one that is only a few years old. Frankly, there's no excuse for it.

That room was also on a side of the hotel that was next door to some large scale construction work which is ongoing beside the hotel and obviously will be ongoing for some continued length of time.

I asked reception to move me to a room on the other side of the hotel and admittedly while the room was better, it was actually closer to the construction work. I asked to be changed to a different room again. (At this stage it starts to get embarrassing for both the guest and the staff.)

Finally, I get sent to another room which is not too far away from the construction wprk but a little better and the roomer is nicer. I'd specifically told the staff that I was there on business and would be staying in my room for extended periods of time and working in the room and thus didn't want to be annoyed by the construction. Notwithstanding this, the room they put me was on the first floor (not ground) and right above a nightclub. You could imagine how delighted I was when the nightclub cranked up the volume at about 9.00pm for two nights in a row and I couldn't get back over to sleep until the ealry hours.

Then of course, like clockwork at 8.00am next morning I'm awakened by the dulcet tones of a pile driver and other large items of construction hardware. Not good at all.

Now the hotel was full and so they couldn't do very much to improve the situation but I was staying there on company business and my company sends a LOT of people to that hotel and is a major employer in the area and a major customer of the hotel. I had naively assumed they might pull out some stops to make things better. But alas, nothing.

Then there was the bar/restaurant. I sat down one evening for a drink and some bar food. The bar area was only half full, but almost all of the free tables had glasses and plates left on them that hadn't been cleared away and various members of staff walked straight past my dirty table (with no apparent intention to do anything else) on three occasions before I had to frantically draw their attention to the fact that I was there. After my drink was delivered, there was at least a 15 minute delay AFTER I closed and replaced my menu before anyone came to take my order. Having said that the food was lovely and very reasonably priced.

Otherwise, the hotel is great, the staff seem keen enough to help, but the hotel really does need to raise the bar a little in order to meet the levels of quality that they purport to offer.

a new hotel which is being developed but suffered from building noise in the mornings. has very nice large rooms with all new good quality facilities and good friendly service, we found the food reasonable but not exceptional quality, although the irish breakfast was cooked while you wait rather than being a serve yourself buffet, so was a cut above most of the breakfasts we had whilst in ireland.
