Our first stay here was so fantastic, we ended up booking Radisson SAS Galway on two other ocassions. It was later that we noticed some of the minor issues the hotel has which could make your stay less than perfect, and some of the rooms are a little worn looking. If possible, see your room FIRST and I only recommend a room with a water view, and finally be aware that the lifts at peak use times can be frustratingly slow. Our first stay we booked a Standard room on the second floor with water view. The room was attractive, clean, comfortable bed, nice bedding, all traveling needs taken care of and quiet. Robes and slippers are provided.
Location is convenient & short walk to Eyre Square. The car park is comped to you and we were able to leave our car all day after we checked out.
The Leisure facilities are THE TRUE GEM here and we absolutely enjoyed the indoor heated pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, as well as the outdoor hot tub on a nice misty or rainy day. The extra large exercise room was well ventilated and has a great variety of machines.
The breakfast is almost completely self-serve but has great variety and abundance. I ordered hot porridge and coffee. What was nice is that most items had several choices, for instance there were four different types of yogurt, four types of juices, etc. and many vegetarian options such as fresh and dried fruits, nuts, seads, grilled tomatoes, cold cereals, etc.
The second room we booked was on the 5th Floor, a lovely suite with beautiful big windows and small balcony overlooking the water. Added features such as the complimentary wine, espresso maker and continental early morning breakfast all available in the 5th floor lounge area, as well as the business room with printer. The draperies were unfortunately rather dusty when I closed them.
The 3rd time we stayed here is when we noticed some of the minor drawbacks. The two lifts are not sufficient for a hotel of this size so you frequently are left waiting while it goes sailing past you. We gave up and took the stairs a couple of times, unfortunately once in the early morning, half asleep and on our way to the Leisure Center in our bathrobes we neglected to notice the Fire Exit sign and made the mistake of taking it, so we were locked out on the staircase. A Notice said to walk up to the 4th floor and call the White Phone so that we could get back in. So I walked up the two flights and was told they would send someone to let us back in. As we were waiting we noticed that buckets were stacked on the stairs and water was gushing down from the ceiling and wet moldy looking carpet and walls. It looked as if it has been going on for awhile.
Finally, we actually enjoyed the piano player in the lively lounge belting out Elton John songs on our first stay as it was pouring outside. The lounge is attractive with large windows, a fireplace and comfortable seating. I enjoyed the tuna sandwich from the bar menu and the wine list had what we wanted so we were happy campers. We did notice that the service is inconsistent however.
The 3rd stay the Check In took over ten minutes as he scrolled through the computer presumable looking for a room for us. When I saw the room, I was disappointed as it was worn looking and not as beautiful as the first and second room we had.
My recommendation to the management of Radisson is offer the rooms without the water view at a greatly reduced price, invest in a ventilation sytem including ceiling or wall fans, maintain all rooms at same level of maintainance, and install another Lift from the Lobby Level down to the Garage Level. A lift separate from the garage area I would think would also make it more secure for guests.

I recently stayed in the Radisson for 2 nights for a busines conference and I have to say I was a little disappointed.
There's nothing fundamentally wrong - but I was expecting great things. I'd been to events in the public areas and thought it was of a very high standard but I have to admit the rooms and corridors are getting a bit tired and shabby.
The staff on Reception were lovely. However, we tried to get some food in the bar early evening one day and after 30 minutes we left as we still hadn't been served despite going and asking staff to take our order 3 times! The staff in the bar appeared inexperienced and overwhelmed.
The location of the hotel is great, the public areas are still impressive looking but all in all I was a bit disappointed.

I absolutely Loved the Radisson In Galway, My Parents won a Spa Weekend competition for 2 nights B&B and one evening meal, We stayed at the peak time and we're very lucky to get a room. They said that they would have to put a bed down for me and that it would take up a lot of floorspace, That was absolutely wrong! *chuckles* It didn't! it was fine, the room was very spacious with everything and anything, Was very impressed with one-touch service & Mini-bar, They even had a sachet of Hot Chocolate! (which I don't find in many hotels.)
The Leisure Centre was amazing! All free-of-charge. The Pool was great, the sauna had 3 tiers, which I loved, The Steam Room was Lovely, and the OUT DOOR HOT-TUB which my father enjoyed, seeing as I wasn't allowed in it or the indoor-jacuzzi, the Changing Rooms we're very luxurious, Staff were very friendly, Exterior was Very attractive, Check in - was a breeze, (I apologize for not mentioning check in at start) Lifts were transparent which I thought was a great touch, However, My Parents Couldn't look Down, Afraid of heights lol But perfectly safe! *chuckles*
On the first night, we claimed our "evening meal" which was included, for Starters I think I had the Potato & Leek Soup for main course, Curry of the day (chicken curry) and for Dessert I had Chocolate Brownie, Dad had Shrimp for starter, Steak for Main, and Strawberry Cheesecake for Dessert, Mum had Something For starter (maybe the soup) steak (butterflied) for Main & Strawberry Cheesecake for Dessert, we all loved our meal, The next night we were planning to eat somewere different as the package only included 1 evening meal, We were also planning to eat with Mum's Sister and her friend. However, we decided that we would eat in the hotel along with Mum's Sister & Friend and we were lucky enough to get a "Self - Service Carvery Style" Dinner, which had an endless list of Food. It was a four Course Meal, In total there was 5 of us, 3 of us had soup for starters but 2 of us had a salad for starters then the 3 of us had salad for 2nd course, and the remaining 2 had soup, the Soup was delicious Vegetable Soup with the option of taking Croutons and an extensive variety of Rolls & Breads. For 2nd Course (almost the best course) I had Shrimp (which i tried for the first time the previous night and was delicious) Lettuce, Tuna, maynonaise & sweetcorn mixed, Noodle Salad, Scallions, Cold Chicken, It really did include everything and anything, the Main Course was Delicious, I had Lovely Turkey & Ham with a brown gravey flavoured with a slight hint of honey which went down a treat! It Mightn't sound that appealing but it really was delicious, I also took veg and I would have taken Roast potato only it wasn't an olive-oil Roast Potato it was roast but it was still in the skin so I ordered a portion of french fries instead. For Dessert, WELL, this was Bliss! I had a lovely white-chocolate cake and a chocolate brownie, Absoulutely dreamy, there was so Much there that it was fit for a King!
Breakfast was the same! Endless Variey, Cereal, fruit, waffles, bacon, sausages, beans, mushroooms, tomato, scrambled egg, bread, everything and anything!
And before I knew it, Time to leave! :(
There's so much I could tell you, I would reccomend it to ANYBODY, Visit this hotel or stay in it! You WON'T regret it! I promise! :) I hope you enjoy (if you do stay)

This Hotel is close to the downtown action in galway, which to me means Pubs, drinking, music and FUN!!The staff at receprion is GREAT, and I got a free room upgrade to executive level which is the 5th floor. On the 5th floor you have your own private lounge and free drinks. This hotel has a great indoor heated swimming pool, with an outside jacuzzi ,and an indoor jacuzzi next to the pool.also 2 steam saunas.I think this hotel is the best in galway, with FREE INTERNET, which means a lot to me.

we stayed in the radisson for two nights this week as a treat as we had booked time off work.

overall it met the purposes of the trip- to chill out and take in some the festival.

it is a typical hotel in some senses- plastic plants, large lobby area which is probably hard to heat, and yes overpriced pizza which we ordered in the wee hours of the morning.

However staff were great. Helpful, gave us information about the festival that was going on, has a spa to die for- try their thermal suite (i have never done a thermal suite so enjoyed this), a fabulous breakfast- a variety of things fruits, cereals, meats, frys, pastries. sets you up for a good day. Its in agreat location and your very close to the centre of galway.

  • Liked — breakfasts and friendly staff
  • Disliked — the cost!!
