I just recently returned from a trip to Galway. Prior to going I read some of the reviews about the Corrib Great Southern Hotel and almost cancelled my reservations because the reviews were so bad. I have travelled extensively and have had both good and bad experiences with accomodations. I found the Corrib to be on the top of my list for cleanliness, excellent sevice, extremely friendly and helpful staff, and a fantastic view from my room to "watch the sun go down" on Galway Bay. I agree the location is away from the centre of the city, but I walked to and from the city centre each of the five days I was there(I'm over 60)and the walk took 35 minutes each way.

There's no such thing as a bargain!! Admitingly I got a cheap deal but definitely not as advertised. The hotel room was like walking back in time, the room was completely out dated.
The bedding or towels had not been changed from the previous guests. They made the bed but didn't change the sheets!
The room size is okay but couldn't swing a cat around the bathroom without it hitting you in the face!
Never again - if you are thinking of staying in a Great Southern hotel stay in the one in Eyre Square it's much fab compared to the Corrib.

Stayed here for 2 nights (Fri/Sat) as a family break, 2 adults 2 children, when booking I was told that as the family rooms were booked we would be given adjoining rooms. When we checked in we were delighted to be told that not only were the rooms next to each other but that there was a connecting door! almost as good as a suite to our youngest child,who loved being able to move from "his room" to ours with ease and safety, rooms were spotless and very quiet at night (ground floor) even tho there was a function on the sat night we heard nothing from either the hall or carpark! The staff were brilliant and a special mention for Maureen our waitress. She was fantastic with the children, made them feel really grown up. Only 10 mins by bus to the city centre with a frequent service, Will definetly be returning

We stayed here during our vacation for 2 nights. While it's not the most convenient location if you are planning to visit Galway, the staff is great and rooms are very nice. Plus it's convenient to Galway Crystal Heritage Center for all the ladies who like a good reason to shop for crystal.

I can't say enough about the staff (especially the one's who work in the evening). The lady at the front desk was wonderful and full of information about where to go, where to park and what to skip.
