Whilst it is in a reasonable location with reasonably clean rooms and a reasonable version of a full irish breakfast, my fellow travellers and I found the owners of this bnb to be most UNreasonable...! Having stayed over on a saturday night we were practicaly hounded out of our rooms by 11.00 on the dot because and I quote they needed to "strip the beds and go to mass" An unbelievable way to treat paying guests in this day and age... Like their bedspreads, the owners attitudes are stuck in 1970's Catholic Ireland.

We have mixed feelings about the Roncalli House. Its location-- pretty and quiet Salthill--is a good one if you like to sleep in a quiet place and don't mind walking a bit to the action. The city center is about a 15-minute walk. Our first impressions of Roncalli were excellent. The hosts were friendly and helpful both in email contact and upon meeting us on arrival. Our room was tastefully decorated and well kept, and we enjoyed the free WiFi and impressive selection of TV channels. Roncalli also offers an especially delicious and varied breakfast, including the traditional full Irish breakfast or French toast or pancakes. But we found it really difficult and uncomfortable dealing with the small and insufficient shower. The room and bathroom are small, which we know is common across Europe, but this shower was particularly tiny and had absolutely awful water pressure. It was very disappointing to start the day (both mornings we were there) with a cold shower that spit out only a small amount of water, and it made us regret that we shelled out the money to stay in a place with private bathrooms. Too bad, in a place we would have praised otherwise.

Very small room, toilet/shower in what was intended to be a built in wardrobe, very basic room wise, but clean. Did not stay and found a lot better. House in part of a housing estate, well placed for walk in town....but....

Excellent B&B, fine hosts, great breakfast. Very pretty house, a very short distance to Galway Bay. Great location for taking day tours. Nothing but praise for this B&B!

Nice hosts but not very talkative. Not the best place for a small child. No cots. There are better places in Galway. Try the ocean front ones. Galway was my favorite town in Ireland. Has a lot of energy. Great running location along the ocean.
