I recently booked a 3 night break in the Galway Bay hotel with my wife and 2 young children. I have stayed in the hotel before and once again I was not dissappointed. We found the staff friendly upon arrival and were given a nice spacious room on the corner of the hotel. My eldest daughter really enjoyed the kids club which takes children up to 11pm at night. The hotel has a lovely lounge beside the main bar which caters for parents with children who want a quiet drink. The swimming pool is nice but can get a little crowded at certain times. We did not have dinner in the restaurant but we did have room service which was of a very good standard. The only criticism I would have would be the standard of breakfast and service is not quite as good as it was when I have stayed previously. One morning I asked 3 different people for a pot of tea and still did not receive it. Perhaps the chef could have a fish of the day or maybe pancakes as an option for breakfast as you can get tired of the same old fry up which was a bit bland. It would also be nice to go to a hotel that had table service for breakfast for a change. However this would not stop me returning to this hotel as I believe it has a lot of good qualities.

An absolute disgrace. . Myself and my husband and young daughter stayed in a suite and we were astonished at what was on offer for the price we payed. The room was old fashioned and sparsely furnished and quiet small. The windows in the suites are very small so don't expect breathtaking views of Galway bay.. The living room in the suite was terrible ; small, uncomfortable and very badly furnished. The bathroom was ancient and uncomfortable with no extractor fan and no window. The breakfast was barely edible. Dinner was substandard. The room was freezing. Overall I would say this was the worse hotel I have ever stayed in for this price. I am speechless that it is a 4 star hotel??!! The area around the hotel is dirty and it's also about a 35 minute walk into galway and not the '10 minutes' everyone tells you. Please do not waste your money staying in this hotel....(On a lighter note the staff were nice).

This hotel is way too expensive for what it provides.
My wife and I paid €200 for the privilege of staying one night here.
Now don't get me wrong, this is a nice hotel with very good facilities and service but its priced too high.
Our room was beautiful and very comfortable and breakfast the following morning was lovely .
Galway is a great city but try to head out to Clifden which is a bit of a long drive but is worth it.
This hotel seems to be very popular with the older generation for some reason.

Very expensive for a weekend stay/ not value for money. Certainly, not meriting a four star rating. Hotel foyer poorly situated as the main doors are constantly active and, disturbs patrons relaxing practically in front of the doors. Rooms are adequate but not 4 star. Food is good. Staff are friendly. The hotel ambience is more fitting of a two star/ maybe three/ most definitely not four. No proper facilities for smokers regards canvas/heat coverings. No entertainment worth visiting.

This is a good family orientated hotel. Your children are entertained from 10.00am in the morning to lunch time and then again from 5.30 to 11.30. The children’s high tea was a bit limited with the standard nuggets and chips type menu. The “adult” food in the hotel was very good. The family rooms are huge and we had a view of the sea in a standard family room. I could actually see the blue flag on the blue flag beach and could have watched the sun go down on Galway Bay (if the sun had made an appearance that is). We stayed in Dingle for 4 nights and the Galway bay for 3 and the Galway bay family room was twice the size of Dingle but the food was not as good as Dingle. Lots to do locally with a fun park next door (I would not have liked to have been on that side of the hotel!). Galway city is just an excellent tourist venue and there is so much to do, even in the rain. The pool in the hotel is a bit pathetic, but there is a huge fun park pool next door with water slides etc… I found out far too much about Joes love life when he and his partner stopped outside our hotel room to discuss it, at volume, at 5.30am. The hotel really needs to address noise from wedding guests returning to their rooms early in the morning, even if it was just a sign in the life lobby reminding them that they are not the only people in the hotel, but given the family orientation a porter in the lift lobby would be better.
