It was lovely. Beautiful view of Galway bay from many rooms. The room itself was large, comfortable, and clean. The bed was the most comfortable bed I slept in during my trip. The restaurant and pub were both very nice. It is a 5 min walk to the shopping in the Salt Hill area and a five min cab or bus ride into Galway center. The only reason I did not give this hotel five stars is because I had some issues with the shower. I was unable to get any hot water, and then a few hours later, my husband was unable to get any cold water. However, everything else was so great that I would probably return despite this.

Stayed for a weekend with my wife and young son. They claim to have 4 stars but I wonder why? The reception is boring, has no atmosphere, the hotel looks like a large lump of concrete which fell from the sky- it's ugly. Our room was not very clean and had recently had smokers in it although it was a family room. Food was fine but nothing special. If you are looking for a 4 star experience you will not get it here.

I stayed 2 nights and was so happy with my stay I will definately be going back with my finacee.

My company had the conference room booked so I had little choice in staying here, but Im so glad they booked this hotel.

The location is perfect overlooking the bay not just a stones throw like other hotels will claim. It literally is just a stones throw. There is the road and then your on the promenade.

The staff are great and extremely helpful. Their welcome actually seems believable unlike the many other hotels I have stayed in. You really feel right at home. The hotel has a homely feel to it but also has an air of luxury you dont usually find for reasonable prices.

The rooms are fine, not luxury but exactly what I wanted. It was clean and comfortable and quiet. It also had a lovely view of the bay.

However, the hotel has its problems. The leisure centre leaves a lot the be desired. So what if people can walk past the window and see you swimming. I read reviews of people mentioning this. They should have concentrated on the fact the pool is very very small and the gym is tiny also.

The public bar is horrendous. They built a quaint Irish bar in the middle of a modern hotel. They are certainly not appealing to the majority guests, rather the " Coach Tour" Groups.

They are really the only negatives I can find.

The hotel also has a day time cafe just off reception which is self service buffet style. The food was quite nice, but maybe because the hotel gave me a free lunch........I might be biast.

The restaurant which I only used for breakfast was great. The views are amazing and the staff are extremely attentive and polite. The food is quite nice also.

Like I said, the hotel is great for just about anybody.

I have attached some photos also.

Advice!!! In High Season, ask for a room on the west or south of the building. The east of the building faces an amusement park which only arrives in the high season. You wont be much sleep until after 11:30 with this.

The west actually faces an appartment building but is better than the noise of the the other side. The rooms facing south face the bay so your on a winner there. Rooms facing north faces the car park so they are not really great.

Never ever let them give you a ground floor room. The either face on the car park reception and you have to keep your curtains closed 24/7 because everyone can see in or its one of those rooms with the flip up bed because during the day it might be a conference room.

I have stayed in this hotel twice before and had to be moved because of these silly rooms.

Very good hotel, customer service is average. Check-in staff were very helpful, management staff when you complain (not so helpful). Food in restaurant absolutely brilliant - great choice and quality - would highly recommend. Leisure centre a joke- do not book this hotel becuase of leisure centre!

To explain we booked this hotel for a wedding anniversary and thus booked the jacuzzi suite which was supposed to have a view of galway bay. The view was out of a side window which didn't particularly impress! There was no shower becuase of the jacuzzi (which they didn't tell us when booking it). Jacuzzi was lovely - very relaxing. However jacuzzi suite was on first floor and noise from bar was very bad. When we complained about the noise when checking out management were less than helpful. In saying all that it is a lovely hotel and would stay there again for the location and the restaurant. However would not pay extra for a suite or sea view room!

There is something oldy worldy about this hotel which faces out to the Galway Bay.

The food isn't great but the rooms are very comfortable with free internet and the overall ambiance is comfortable.

It has a decent health club and swimming pool. I recommend it - especially as it is in such a beautiful, hostpitable part of the world.

  • Liked — Free internet, great position facing Galway Bay.
  • Disliked — The food.
