I only stayed one night here as part of a tour of Ireland so I didn't have a chance to enjoy the full glory of this hotel, but I loved the place! Beautiful lobby/sitting area perfect for a lazy read. The front deck would be wonderful in warm weather, the view was great. The pub was charming (although not prepared for a large group when we were there.) The people were so very nice everywhere. The restaurant was top notch. Even our tour of 45 enjoyed a wonderful dinner. I would like to spend more time there. Note that the hotel is quite aways from the city of Galway.

Disappointing

Having stayed at this hotel a few years ago and enjoyed it, I was disappointed with this visit. The lobby area is as impressive and cosy as ever and the check-in staff were extremely freindly but the problems started when we arrived in the room. It was a cold day when we arrived in to a room with no heating and the windows flying open - it took ages to heat up. The bed was very small, not a full sized double and the one pillow provided for each was hard.
We returned the 2nd evening to find once again a freezing cold room.
After a disappointing meal in the restaurant, we were kept awake for the night with noise from a ball which had taken place that night in the hotel.

Overall a disappointing stay, and I won't be returning.

We stayed with the Galway Bay Hotel as part of our Sports & Social club and had a wonderful weekend. We enjoyed relaxing and lazing around this beautiful hotel. The Restaurant deserves our compliments as the food and service was first class. We at the Sports & Social club look forward to returning to the Galway Bay Hotel again in the near future.

The Galway Bay Hotel is situated overlooking the beatuiful GALWAY BAY.
I did all my booking etc on the net and there was no problems. The package included breakfast and that was very nice indeed.

We did not have a room ovelooking the bay but the balcony did and we had coffee and drinks there.
We walked to Galway (about 20 mins) along the causeway, and through the Cladagh village. very peaceful. The shopping in Galway was very good and inexpensive comapred to Dublin etc.
We had tea/dinner at Busker Browne's and it was also first class. We decided to be local and caught the bus back to the Hotel. What a great idea, we saw parts of Galway and Salthill that only locals see and for just 2Euro each. bargin.
The hotel staff were very pleasant but busy.
The breakfast in the morning was just outstanding and well worth the effort. We had a table by a window and for our first morning in Ireland it was just unforgettable.

Although it was a bit more expensive it was worth it.

We spent three nights at the Galway Bay. Paid the extra for a room at the front with a fabulous view of the bay.Well worth 14 euro a night extra. Ate at the restaurant on two nights and really enjoyed the food and service. Breakfast was nice . Its an eight euro taxi ride from Galway city. Thats reasonable. If you dont want to pay this (as previous reviewers)get a bus. Rooms are nice. Perhaps 3.5star. Fabulous lounge and public areas. The hotel pub is awful. A dreary dark shebeen. Please management smarten it up. It reminds me of Ireland in the seventies. Also it only opens in the evening. Fancy a lunchtime drink here? Sorry. No chance unless you can find a staff member and feel embarassed to ask for a drink. This hotel has a fabulous location with stunning views. They just need to wake up and remember that customers have a choice and will go elsewhere ( The Salthill Hotel perhaps)if they dont wake up
