The website gives a much better impression of the hotel than was actually delivered. We had an ok stay with the rooms being nice and clean, the reception staff were slightly abrupt but this could be due to the fact they were contending with many different languages. There are fantastic views from the hotel and the surrounding area ws brilliant to go for a nice crisp October walk.

myself and my wife have just returned from a 5 night break on the west coast of ireland 2 of which were spent at this hotel, the location and the room was fine and the staff very helpful the food in the bar was really good but we found the breakfast was not up to the normal standard mainly because it was cold.

We stayed at the Galway bay hotel at the end of September, to attend the oyster festival up the road. We booked using our airmiles, so were really pleasantly surprised to find that we were allocated a lovely room. Previous expereince with airmiles bookings is usually the basement or over the kitchen!. The staff were brilliant, so helpful and always cheerful. We ate in the restuarant on the first night, the food was fabulous. Sadly we did not take advantage of the leisure facilities due to lack of time, but it looked very inviting. We did a long walk along the coast, and wandered into town to eat on the second night. If we had not over indulged at the Oyster festival I think we would have appreciated the area and facilites a lot more. On the down side there were functions going on both nights and the noise from neighbours late at night was an irritation. People smoking in the entrance to the underground car park was also a bit disconcerting as this could hardly be called an outside space and we had to walk through the clouds of smoke to both leave and enter the hotel.

  • Liked — Location and comfy bed
  • Disliked — Noise from other guests

We stayed in the Galway Bay Hotel as part of a wedding party. On the day there was 2 weddings there and both brides were meeting each other - when the bride requested something, she was asked "Sorry, which bride are you" - not something you want to be asked when you are going to pay a huge bill there the next day. I must say though, the food and staff serving the wedding were great. The bar was quite small and the staff very friendly. The accommodation was pricey for what it was. The rooms are in need of a refurbishment and it was disappointing that a 4* Hotel did not have ironing facilities in the bedrooms. We had to go upstairs to an ironing room which was inconvenient. Also, none of the accommodation staff spoke english which was disappointing. The Hotels location is great - overlooking the sea which is lovely.
