“Great Wedding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

Recently attended my brothers wedding in the Galway Bay. The food was amazing, the venue was amazing. Very child friendly! I highly recommend this venue. The night finished up in the early hours of the morning.

My husband and I stayed here for his birthday a few weeks ago. We have been staying in the Galway bay hotel for many years but almost always with our children so it was nice to get a night away by ourselves. As always we were greeted warmly and were made so welcome. Our room was super and spotless. We sat in the lobby and enjoyed a glass of wine before a wonderful dinner in the lobster pot restaurant . I had lobster salad to start which was so delicious. We had monkfish and lamb for main course and both were beautiful. One of the things we love about the Galway bay hotel is that a lot of the staff have been there since our first visit. We hope to enjoy many more stays here. Well done to the management and staff.

I attended a wedding here last month and it was amazing. It was my cousin's wedding and since then the whole family has been raving about the day and in particular the Galway Bay Hotel. The food and service were second to none. There was such a warm and friendly atmosphere created by the staff. My cousin and her husband were made feel very special and so were the whole family. The manager Declan was a true professional. I would highly recommend the Galway Bay Hotel as a wedding venue.

Dear 'GalwayGetaway_girl',

Thank you for this wonderful feedback regarding your recent visit to the
Galway Bay hotel for your cousins wedding reception. I am delighted that
you and indeed all of the other wedding guests had such a wonderful
time. This is a replica of the feedback I receive regarding all wedding
receptions, particularly regarding the quality of the food and service
offered. Thankfully, we are a very popular wedding venue because of this
along with our location, overlooking the beautiful Clare hills and the
famous Galway Bay. Declan is thrilled to be mentioned in such a positive
manner through such a public medium and he passes on his sincere
gratitude to you. Thank you again and we look forward to hopefully
welcoming you back again at some stage in the future.
Kindest regards,
Dan Murphy

Myself & my girlfriend had dinner in the bar of the Galway Bay Hotel last Friday. It was delicious. I had the fish & chips, the best I've ever tasted and my girlfriend had the burger which she said was very tasty and flavoursome. The girl who served us, Orla was extremely helpful, she could not do enough for us. There was a great atmosphere and we enjoyed a relaxing drink there afterwards. I would highly recommend it for a nice meal and an overall enjoyable evening.

My Friends and I met for lunch in the Harvest Café in the Galway Bay Hotel today and felt I just had to share with everyone! There was such a wonderful selection of salads, sandwiches or hot food and everything was so fresh and surprisingly very reasonably priced. It was peak lunch time when we got there and very busy but we were served very quickly and efficiently and the service was second to none. We were all very impressed and hope to come back again soon.

Dear Katie,

Thank you for taking the time and effort to review the Harvest Café following on from your recent lunch here in the Galway Bay Hotel. I am delighted that you had such a wonderful dinning experience. Your positive feedback has been shared with all on the team and all are delighted. We receive super feedback on a daily basis from local diners and hotel guests regarding the quality of food and service in Harvest Café. Infact, I am very proud to say that we were awarded the ‘Best Carvery in Connaught ’ a number of weeks ago which is something we are very proud of.

Thank you again Katie and hopefully we will see you back again soon .

This isn't the typical place that we would stay - it's a little out of our price range - but we got a good deal at the last minute. Overall the room was very spacious and the beds were great. We found breakfast in the morning to be super slow service wise (20 minutes to get toast) but otherwise it was a nice stay. Recommended if you can get a good deal like we did.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

Stayed for 6 nights in early June as part of our first touring holiday to Ireland. We arrived from the Radisson Blu hotel Sligo that certainly merited a 4 star rating. This didn't and we are at a loss to understand the glowing reviews for this hotel. Situated in a rather charmless part of Salthill,a seaside suburb of Galway. This is a very large seafront hotel popular with Irish families and for weddings and celebrations. There are no outside gardens to sit in and the only outside seating was an unattractive raised paved terrace at the front of the hotel. The grim 60's 'Get Carter' style underground car park makes an unappealing entrypoint..Our room 124 overlooked an unkempt public park with people sitting below right near our window but there were no nets or blinds in spite of being so overlooked and we needed to draw the curtains when the park was in use. The other side of the hotel overlooked a large tarmac space where it seemed a travelling fair was setting up. Photos of the hotel don't show this aspect.
Our room DIDN'T have a fridge/minbar/safe/drinking glasses or air con (it was very hot weather). The hospitality 'tray' was a tiny narrow shelf with everything balanced precariously. It was clean and the bathroom adequate.
The Lobsterpot restaurant was curiously decorated with a series of classical busts and had a large tank at the entrance with a diminishing supply of live lobsters, if you like that kind of thing. Only one remained by the end of our stay! The carpet round the central buffet area was black and sticky.
The staff were pleasant and helpful and the food generally good. The evening show ''Trad on the Prom' was very good indeed and clearly very popular.
The hotel bar was a faux Irish pub, complete with black mock 'exterior' built into part of the ground floor The hotel was adequate for our stay being conveniently situated just outside Galway but we would not return. In our experience we have stayed in much better 4 star hotels.

Room Tip: Avoid side rooms overlooking tatty park or other side overlooking tarmac fairground space.

Dear ‘Bromleypeople’,

Thank you most sincerely for staying with us here in the Galway Bay Hotel for a week last summer. Thank you also for your feedback. Like your good selves we have a very large amount of repeat and return guests who stay with us for their holidays both in the summer time and indeed throughout the year.

Last June, approximately the same period when you stayed we had our annual unannounced visit regarding our Failte Ireland grading. As I mentioned this is an unannounced visit adapting a ‘mystery shopper’ approach. The ‘mystery shopper’ makes a reservation, checks in and audits all areas of the hotel from a guests perspective. It is an indept assessment of all areas of the hotel carried out by Failte Ireland personnel, auditing all aspects of the product, service, people, food quality, grounds, facilities and indeed atmosphere etc throughout the hotel. I am happy to report that we received a 91% four star score, achieving above average in all areas of the hotel. This is one of the higher four star scores in Ireland .

I am so lucky to have such a wonderful team of people whom are so focused and motivated when it comes to delivering top class service and product to all guests consistently – they certainly do make my job so much easier! This is illustrated by way of the numerous awards we have achieved over the recent years. Awards the team have achieved are ‘Best Four Star Hotel in Ireland ’ three times over the last nine years awarded by CIE tours Intl. This is a very sought after award whereby each of the CIE Tours Intl guests who stay with us (approx 120 per week) complete a comprehensive questionnaire prior to they leaving the country auditing all aspects of the hotel(approx 55,000 stay in hotels throughout the country each year). We are also very proud to have achieved the Deloitte Best managed Company Award – Gold level, each of the last three years. Galway City Chamber of Commerce and Industry award for excellence on Costumer Service last year. EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) award for excellence throughout the hotel this year. This is a very prestigious and most sought after award in our industry and we are the only hotel in Europe to have received this award this year.

If I can be of any assistance in the future please feel free to drop me a line.

Best regards, Dan Murphy
