I booked one night here to break a long journey as the hotel i had been hoping to use was fully booked. I was travelling with my 2 year old daughter so i booked us a double room with breakfast, thinking that for such a cheap price I dont mind sharing a bed with a toddler. I was fully aware that we would be using student accommodation, and was by no means expecting a 5 star hotel.....
However, when we eventually found the place it was clear that there were going to be a few problems. I parked the car at the reception area and went inside with my daughter. It appears that the staff are very new and very inexperienced. The most senior girl on the desk had to hand-write me a receipt as she didnt know how to print one. While i was stood there, one unfortunate man had to come back twice as he had been given the wrong room key. Both times there had been someone already in the room when he got there and he had just walked in on them. Two young boys asked one of the girls on the desk for a room key as they had lost theirs. She gave them one without question, and they returned 5 minutes later to say they had given her the wrong room number. The girl had just handed out a room key to somebody else's room!
I was hardly surprised then to find that we too had been given the wrong key, and was quite annoyed to have to go back and get another one. While the girls were polite and friendly enough, they did not seem at all bothered by the number of mistakes that were being made and offered no apology.
The accommodation itsself was basic, functional, and pretty bare. Although it was clean there was a stale smell and the paintwork was tired and faded. Everything in the room was shades of grey, and i felt pretty sorry for the student who had been living here in there depressing surroundings all term.
The thing that annoyed me the most was the rattling at our door handle at about 1130 pm, a female member of staff calling out "security, hello, who is in here?" !!! I could not believe that any staff member would consider it a decent level of service to do that to a paying guest at that time of night. In fact, I was absolutely furious that a staff member would put me in the position where i would have to answer the door in my nightdress to explain what i was doing there. I felt that when I paid for the room I was paying the right to have our own secure, private space for the night, but after that my trust in the security of this "hotel" was gone. It was very hard to get back to sleep after that, and i set my alarm early so we could get out of there.
Breakfast was very much "first up, best fed," with cereal toast and juice on offer. Unlike the reception, staff here were very efficient and kept the tables clean and clear for the steady stream of guests.
I will not be staying here again, I would prefer to pay the little bit extra and know that I will not be woken in the night like that. The staff just didnt seem that proffesional to me, I would have expected more than that.

I was looking for decent, cheap accommodation in Galway for about 10 people. I booked Corrib Village because it was only €60/night for a double ensuite. This included a continental breakfast.

While the facilities and location are good, the rooms are cramped, musty and rarely cleaned. The shower was filthy and the drainage so bad that after 2 minutes, the shower tray would fill with water and flood the bathroom. The walls are also paper thin, so if you do get put next to some party goers, you'll find it very tough!

The common areas were a little better, though nothing special. The breakfast room's tables weren't cleared and the two staff on duty looked like they had better places to be.

If you're on a very tight budget, Corrib Village would be okay, but for anyone else, I wouldn't recommend it.

I stayed at Corrib Village for a week in July and I have to say it was a lot better than I thought it would be for the price, paying just €20 a night!! The dorms were spotless, as were the grounds.
There was a games room with pool table, juke box, etc. There was a shop on the grounds were they sold everything you would need, I never had to make a trip to the supermarket, and it was very cheap aswell not like other shops on accommadation grounds that overcharge! There is a playground for the kids, a field to play football, etc. The continental breakfast was amazing, plenty of pastries, selection of breads, toast, jams, cereales, juice!! I couldn't believe all of that was included in the €20 I was paying! And there was also a FREE shuttle bus which brings you from corrib village into the city centre in a few minutes!! Galway city is amazing, the culture, the atmosphere, great resteraunts, even better pubs, friendly faces, and theres always some kind of festival going on!

Overall my week in corrib village was absolutely fantastic, definately recommended, I know I'll be going back there very soon!!!

I stayed in Corrib Village in June 2005 and again in July 2006. A great thing they have introduced this year is key cards for the room, I know last year my friends had some problems with getting the wrong room but because of the key cards this year, check in was quick and easy and we were all given the right rooms! Corrib Village is in a fantastic location just outside the city and there is a shuttle bus every half an hour during the day. When you rent a self catering aparment you get your own living room and kitchen so if you don't want to eat out all the time you have cooking facilities. I have never had any problems with the cleanliness of the aparments and we were supplied with fresh towels duing the week. The complex itself is great because it has a shop, cafe, tennis courts, playground and laundry. I will definately be returning again next year!

Upon arriving at Corrib Village, I was delighted to see that the dorms were easily found, with signposts directing the way. I was also able to remember which dorm was mine, with distinguishable colours having been applied to each one. The interior of the dorms were exquisite and very clean. The numerous cupboards and wardrobes were very useful for storing items away. One thing about the rooms was the bedroom doors. They each required a key-card, so if you closed the door, then you would not be able to get back in without having to unlock it. Although, I know this is required for College use. The grounds and facilities were very good as well, with a stocked Shop, a Dining area, and Pool room with an amazing range of music available on the coin-op jukebox and various other social rooms. the actual city of Galway is incredible. The buildings are beutiful and there are various social areas of traditional and Modern design. There are numerous resteraunts and a wide selection of food. Ayre square is a great area to just sit down and relax and perhaps view the large Cinema-esque screen or have a small picnic. Beside the estuary and harbour, there is a vary large green area for playing Football and other sports. not to far away, there is Silverstrand beach, which serves as a delightful area to tan and swim.

Overall, it is excellant accomodation in a beautiful city. What more could you ask for?
