We were very disappointed with this accomodation. After waiting ages to get our key, we walked into our house to discover it was not the type we had booked. Back to reception, joined long queue again and finally got another key to another house. Walked in and felt like we were not alone!! TV on in living room and one of the bedrooms locked! We tried to open it and suddenly, the door opened and a terrified German lady appeared! She had already been assigned this house!! Back to reception, joined the longer than ever queue and finally third time lucky (well!) entered our home for the week. Dirty socks under the sofa, sweet papers around the floor, the kitchen stank!! Piles of dirty laundry in the hallways!
On the plus side, location is good, shop is grand for basics, staff friendly and helpful (hard job to stay cheerful with the mess they have to handle!). Really could not recommend it to anyone. Basic is fine but dirty....no, no and no again.

This is not a bad choice for visitors to Galway on a budget. The area is nice and quiet, around a 20 minute walk from the centre. Be aware that the free bus is only a 16 seater, put a couple of families on there and it's full. Local Bus Eireann buses run (erratically) from the City centre - although curiously, never found buses running to the city! The staff are friendly and the rooms and bathrooms are fairly clean but spartan - and the room was not serviced at all one of the days. Fine to crash out for the night on a 3 day break but would look elsewhere for a longer stay. Certainly can't argue with the prices though.

I have returned to Corrib Village for many years. It is by far the best accomodation availabl;e in Galway for the price. It is an ideal place to bring a family offering self catering apartments on a secure site with excellent facilities. The rooms are very well kept and housekeeping are extremely efficient and friendly. The site is ideal for those driving to Galway as the city is within walking distance and parking is FREE! I would not hesitate to recommend this site to anyone visiting Galway.

We booked 2 family apartments in Corrib Village in August 04 and it has to be the worst place I've ever had to stay. It was filthy, the apartments were smelly, the rooms were all crawling, dead hair in the showers that had been there for some time. There was leftover food in the kitchens, on the tables and it was unbelievable to think it could be sold as 'luxury apartment' which ours was advertised on their website. The area is great, the on-site facilities are great and the idea of Corrib Village is great but until they clean up their act they'll never be anything other than grotty accommodation for students. If you're anyway hygiene consious give it a miss as you never know what you'll pick up there.

I recently spent 6 weeks at Corrib Village while I was studying at the University. Corrib Village is OK, but nothing spectacular. If you're looking for just a base for your stay in Galway, it's great, but if you're looking for luxury, go elsewhere. Since it's basically student housing during the school year, it feels a lot like being in a dorm room.
Corrib Village is about a 15-20 min walk to downtown if you take the riverwalk and cut through the University. There is a shuttle that runs from Corrib Village to Eyre Square and back once an hour from 12noon - 8pm. Also, it's about a 7 or 8 Euro cab back at night after the pubs close:) Keep in mind the gates to the riverwalk close at 11pm, so take a cab at night or you'll have to walk around the block to get inside the Village. Since it is a bit out of downtown, it is nice and quiet at night and sleeping won't be a problem, but bring your own alarm clock, they aren't provided.
The bedrooms are basic, but definitely liveable. The bathrooms are a bit cramped, and the showers are definitely small. There's no bathtub, just a shower stall.
There is a small store on site for snacks and stuff, but it closes at 9pm. There is a pool table and tennis courts are also available.
Overall, I recommend it if you're looking for something basic and cheap and don't mind having a bit of a walk to get downtown. It's clean and safe, the staff is friendly, and there are different types of rooms available, including an apartment type with a livingroom, kitchen, and multiple bathrooms.
Hope this helps!
